I listened to his word vomit. He describes a couple who can't watch TV at night because the wind is not blowing - something that has never once happened.

This is really simple. He's in the pocket of the oil and gas industry. He regularly trashes wind energy. Disgraceful. The path to mitigating the destruction of climate change requires us to replace fossil fuels with renewable energies like wind. And this immoral, narcissistic POS only cares about his own self interests.

Huh....I'm a bit confused here with your statement. Wind power generation can't happen without wind. It's like say coal power only works when their is coal to burn. Or solar power only works during the day. I wasn't aware that is a controversial thought.
Wind turbines are able to store the energy generated. So it's there when there is no wind.

But yeah, obviously it's not going to generate any if there is no wind. Yet the number of on shore wind turbine installations have doubled in the last 10 years in Europe and have tripled over that time across the world.

Let's get real, tfg is just attempting to make another bad faith argument for the sake of oil executives that are intent on boosting his campaign.

Solar power definitely doesn't only work when the sun's out. You can store energy. Same with wind power.

If you go without sun or wind for long enough? Then, yeah, solar power and wind power won't work indefinitely.

I think we are picking at nits here. You can't generate power without the stuff fueling it. Oil, gas, the sun, wind, water, tides, whatever. Yes, you can store energy from anywhere in many different forms for use later.

If we lose the sun we’ve got bigger problems

I do think you are the only one picking nits. The whole conversation started because Trump is trashing wind power as an energy source. Tell that to Costa Rica which uses 98% renewable energy - 15% of which comes from wind.

I’m not sure whether that is the reason or that he really just doesn’t understand that when there is no wind you use stored power or power generated from another source.

Don’t always attribute to malice what could be explained by sheer stupidity.

I'm curious the Board's reactions on the rationale behind this...
I really don't know, but the other day my brokerage firm sent me a message offering to let me bet, for lack of a better word, on the election. I thought about it for maybe five seconds and then deleted the message, but perhaps more folks are getting into this market? The email said it was "pending regulatory acceptance".

Not my kind of investing.

It's not picking nits. Trump is criticizing wind power using a criticism that is meaningless. We are pointing out why that criticism is meaningless.

Either he's intentionally pushing a false/meaningless narrative or he truly doesn't understand how wind power works. Neither is flattering. But it's not picking nits.

No idea. But the betting markets whiffed pretty badly in 2016. They were closer in 2020, but probably not to the degree that the election was close.

Seems like a really rich person (or groups of people) with the belief that Trump would win threw money at the market, and it moved the needle. Whether those people are right or not is... well... unknowable at this stage.

Same as everything else, there is no desire to understand either. So much of his allure is a celebration of ignorance. Come up with a narrative and repeat it over and over as truth. The cult will go along and celebrate a made up “truth”. Elon is such a logical fit as he essentially does the same thing under the veil of “free speech”. Intentional idiots.
