Board software - Q&A for the new stuff

After using the new DBR board, I am impressed. Everything works fine like the old board, or even better.

One thing I've noticed in the last few days. When I click on a bolded thread title, which should take me to the first unread message, it starts with an older post which I already read, from which I then have to scroll down to the "New" post that I haven't read yet. This happens on just a few threads... not sure if it's consistent with which threads this happens on, but it does happen.

I think I’ve seen that on other boards using the same software. When I haven’t opened a thread in a while, it no longer jumps me to the first unread. I haven’t seen that here yet.

If you didn’t mark everything read after the conversion, you’d have a bunch of newly unread stuff.

A last thing, if there’s a bunch of embedded stuff - pics, vids, tweets - then it may jump you to the right spot and then move you back up as that content loads.

Hi -jk... thanks for you reply.

I marked the entire board as "read" from the first implementation of the new board. And, this happens on a couple of threads that I routinely look at throughout the day.... again, not sure if it's consistent with which thread it is. I know that I'm not at the first unread thread since I recognize the post I'm sent to, and the "New" orange label on the top right side is not there. Gotta scroll down to see the post with that "New" label. Also, I do notice that if there's a bunch of embedded stuff, the thread jumps back and forth, up and down. Not sure which post it stops at... if first new post or an older post... I haven't paid too much attention to that. Anyway, not a big deal.

Thanks! We’ll have to look into that. I haven’t seen it except for embeds causing bouncing.

When you aren’t at your first unread, are you randomly placed or at the first post?

Appears that I'm placed (randomly) at a few posts before the new one... maybe 3 or 4 earlier already read posts. So scrolling down to the "New" post is not a really an issue. Just that it happens on only a couple of threads... not all threads. For example, for this thread, I click on the bolded thread title, and was immediately placed to your post above as "New".

I'm having the same issue -- whenever I go back to a thread I am reading/following, it does not automatically take me to the first new post. This happens in all the threads I am reading and is not good.

Computer or mobile device? If computer, can you try this: after a page finishes loading, go back to the top and click the "Jump to new" button? Does that take you to the correct place?

I don't think that button is in the mobile skin (yet).

The “Jump to new” button is in my iPad and iPhone using Safari. And it does go to the first “New” post. But I haven’t tried it on a thread that doesn’t place me to the first “New” post yet. I’ll see how it goes…
