Board software - Q&A for the new stuff

Computer or mobile device? If computer, can you try this: after a page finishes loading, go back to the top and click the "Jump to new" button? Does that take you to the correct place?

I don't think that button is in the mobile skin (yet).

The “Jump to new” button is in my iPad and iPhone using Safari. And it does go to the first “New” post. But I haven’t tried it on a thread that doesn’t place me to the first “New” post yet. I’ll see how it goes…
Hi -jk.. your post implies that the "Jump to new" button in the mobile skin may not have been implemented yet. But as I replied, it is there for me in mobile so is probably implemented already. And, ever since then, I've gone through a bunch of threads, and I've been taken to the first "New" post every time. Maybe implementing that "Jump to new" button fixed the issue?

Desktop and a 2/1 hybrid; same issue with both. The "Jump to New" button does not work for me, but I wonder why this extra step/button is needed?

With the old forum software, and on the several other forums I frequent, I am always taken to my last read/unread post position. It's automatic, without having to hit a button.

I'm on a desktop using the Chrome browser. For me, both clicking on a bolded thread title and clicking on the "Jump to new" button works as expected.

Just clicked on the link for the Duke Football 2024 thread. Took me to an already viewed message (Jason's message about a 2025 commitment) rather than Chris Hoke's message about the graduate transfers. I have had other occasions when the click took me a few messages back from the new ones.

Could the presence of an imbedded picture (and rather large one at that) influence things, or is it just random? (I know, that's what you're trying to figure out!)

To multi-quote on a desktop computer:

Click on the "+Quote" button to the lower right for all the messages you'd like to multi-quote. Scroll down to the compose section. You will now see a button that says "Insert quotes...". When you click, in the resulting dialogue, you'll see the list of quotes to insert. Usually, you can just hit the "Quote messages" button from there, but if you've over-clicked, you can remove quotes from the list first, if needed. The selected quotes will appear in the compose box, and you can further edit the quotes themselves and insert your own commentary before posting, as usual.

I have not tested on a phone, but would guess the process is similar.

I realize what has been bothering me about the new iteration of the Board: the COLOR of the type. Can it be changed to a darker blue and away from the crappy stuff from the Dump?

If you mean the color wheel (see the palette icon in the reply toolbar), I have similar problems accenting bolded text with darker colors that just aren't there. The workaround is the HEX Color field, where you can enter a different color if you know the 6-character HEX code (which is easily searchable). Here are a few:

Medium Blue 0000CD
Navy 000080

Saddle Brown 8B4513

Dark Olive 556B2F
Dark Green 006400

Maroon 800000

It would be nice if DBR could edit the default color wheel, or if we were individually allowed to add colors to it.

For the record, I think that the default link color (see the word "searchable" above) is more of a Kentucky royal blue, which isn't as offensive as the Carolina blue nonsense.

I don't remember if this has been discussed as yet: Does this board manifestation impose the same time restriction regarding the editing of one's previous post?

No, it's shorter. Unless it's changed recently, you have 5 minutes instead of 15. It's caused me some problems.

Same here. I'd love it if that setting could be lengthened to 30 minutes, rather than 5. 15 is close to a minimum, IMO.

I can't seem to quote people consistently. What's the proper sequence (asking for a dimwitted amigo)
If you're just quoting a single message, the "Reply" button is way easier to use. "Quote" is for including multiple quotes in a single reply, as Phredd described.
