Duke Blue Planet - 2024-25 Season

Here's Duke Blue Planet Episode 3...

Stuff interesting to me... Kon guarded, but gets off 2 shots. Foster mentions "JJ cutoff" shirt under the uniform. Plus many more... Plus, while Scheyer is intense, nothing like Danny Hurley

Good stuff. Interesting to me... Foster was nursing a hurt ankle all last year. If that's the reason for his drop off after his explosion against Mich St, then watch out. Kon drains two threes over Isaiah and then scores on two drives over Cooper.

I am already preparing for Kon to leave after this year. He just does so many things well.

I think he's probably the real deal. A big thing with freshmen usually is earning the trust of your teammates. From all the interviews, it seems like he's already doing that. If we do lose Kon, hopefully we will get Isaiah and Darren back for a sophomore year.

Observing Jon mic’ed up in practice is not unlike observing Michelangelo teaching someone to paint or observing a UNC secretary instructing an athlete how to write a senior thesis about chickens. It’s impressive indeed.

You may want to compare Coach Scheyer to a different artist. Dick Vitale always referred to Dean Smith as Michelangelo.

I would steer clear of painters altogether, as Purdue's coach has that covered. Maybe Auguste Rodin (modern sculptor, chiseling his own giant roster, no shorties please) or Frank Lloyd Wright (young and influential architect, Chicago connection)?

Remember when someone asked Elton Brand if he was worried Duke brought in the number one center, Chris Burgess?

And Brand responded, "Maybe he should be worried about me."

Wonder if anyone asked Kon if he was worried about going to a loaded Duke team...

Is it possible instead of Superman, we've got Batman and Robin?

You're not fooling anyone SkyB by replying to your alt account ;)
Haha. It's true that's the first post I've seen from Elmo's. No, you know I'm not afraid to reply to my own SkyB posts if I have a lot to say.

Azz, tell me the truth. You're getting excited to see Kon in action too, aren't you? I'm more excited for this team than I was for Zion/RJ. I think it's because it teases this idea of a team without a weakness. Depth. Shooting. Size. Athleticism. Defense. Experience. It's all there. I only worry a little about rebounding and rim protection if Khaman is not yet ready...

Is sitting on the bench considered action? Is active lounging a thing? Gosh I hope so because I might be an All-Pro.

Just joshin' with you SkyB. I am excited to see this team. There is a lot of talent.

Great video. Looks like Scheyer is setting the tone from day 1, especially for the freshmen who are all new to this. He wants them to talk constantly and hold each other accountable. From the looks of it we're going to apply a lot of pressure on the ball and be active defensively, which of course makes sense when you have a 7'2 eraser plus two 6'9 defensive beasts behind you. Sion feels like a Justise Winslow type of defender who can make plays all over the court.

I didn't recognize the strength and conditioning guy; is he new? Even the returnees Proctor and Foster seemed unfamiliar with some of the dynamic lifting drills he was putting them through.

Kon will not be bad on D. His effort is A+ and he knows basketball so his positioning will be solid. The issue will be lateral quickness which should be less of a concern if he plays the 3. He guarded Harper some in the Jordan Brand game (I think that is the one) and did as well as anyone else who tried. The guy just gets it and will be a big contributor for this team.
