New Season of Duke Blue Planet:

This episode focuses on a 4 team “Olympics” with 4 facets:
-3 on 3
-Trivia
-Video Games
-Beach Volleyball

The 4 team captains for the Olympics are Foster, Proctor, James and Gillis

There is some good extensive footage of the 3 on 3 tournament. It is edited in that trademark herky-jerky style so you don’t really see what’s happening, but it’s cool nonetheless.

Happy to see prominent presence from JRobb.

There is also a powerful opening statement from Coach Scheyer and a piece on the end from when Grayson visited.

Thanks. I meant to post this. I got home last night and I was expecting to see my boys watching ESPN on my TV as usual, but instead saw a guy who looked like JRob, which confused me. My older son found out that it was being released yesterday and watched it immediately. I am very proud to be his father. I watched bits and pieces and will watch the whole thing later - looks like fun. Duke does a great job with these.

Dave Bradley’s team also occasionally does pieces that they brand “Devil-ish” where they give the camera to a player over time and edit together a “vlog”.

Here’s Mr. Evans

We know he’s been a great player, and we hope he’ll be great at Duke, but this kid is undoubtedly a great personality.

There is a bit of overlap with the Blue Planet piece but I call your attention to the part of this video while he is driving the car. The way he talks about Duke and his own competitive drive is awesome. I don’t love the trick he does with his seatbelt, but I am not his parent.

Beat me to it Billy! Watching now and loving the extra 3v3 footage. which includes our first documented example of Cooper's team losing this offseason, haha.

Anyone notice how Cooper is listed as a "G/F" before the volleyball game?

I thought it was impressive that Foster/Kon/Borden won the 3 on 3 tournament. No offense to Borden, but he's probably at the bottom of the depth chart from the 12 who participated, and his game doesn't really translate to that format.

The shooting drills sounded way too complex, but it's not surprising the Proctor/Flagg/Harris won the majority of those.

Not surprised! That's my second and third leading scorers for the season paired up on the same team. Buckets! 🤓

Not taking the bait on what position Cooper plays. Coop plays everywhere...

I think this is new... GREAT video. Especially liked the segment with Lively working with Maluach... and Scheyer working with the team miked up. And many other great nuggets.

I know Dereck is going to have a long, successful NBA career... but is it too early to wish-cast him as our future big man coach? The way he's explaining concepts to Khaman was masterful, even more so considering his own youth!

Great stuff. And watching Bilas close out the video talking about Duke basketball, I'd propose that every time someone on the "TV announcers" thread starts kvetching about Bilas and his lack of loyalty to the Duke program, they should be forced to do a remedial reviewing of this video from 19:38 to the end.

Derek's coaching with Maluach was indeed excelent and fascinating. However, D-Live mentioned several times that you can't bring the ball down, keep it high, or the littles will come in and steal it. He even stated that the ball never comes below his chest, but every.single.time D-live brings the ball down to his waist almost immediately on catching it, before then bringing it up and keeping it up high through the rest of the move(s).

one question i have for the board, as it relates to what the players experience amongst themselves vs. official NBA "lineage keeping": a player like Jeremy Roach, who spent 4 years at Duke, earned a degree (?), and then is finishing at Baylor, or AOC or Joey Baker who spent multiple years at Duke before finishing elsewhere, are they considered part of the Brotherhood?
