Blue Devils in the NBA 2024-2025

"McCain’s 34 points set a new NBA season-high, single-game scoring mark by a rookie passing the 33 points put up by No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher last Wednesday night in the Atlanta Hawks’ win over the New York Knicks. "

Cam Reddish has had an up-and-down career so far, and has never been a particularly good shooter. He seems to oscillate between high-quality games and 0-fers. This year he started out injured, but since he's returned his shooting has been relatively low volume (only 2.8 shots per game), but absolutely en fuego. He's shooting 70.6% FG and 71.4% 3FGs, for an eFG of 85.3%!!!

It seems like Cam was put on earth to torture basketball coaches with his potential and disappoint them with lack of consistency.

He's got the tools to be an excellent defender, which he generally is, and a versatile offensive performer, which comes and goes. Maybe the connection with JJ Redick will work?

Cam is so frustrating. There are sequences in which he will steal the ball, take it down and dunk on someone, then grab a rebound and hit a three on the other end. Later, he will pass up wide open looks or be a ghost on offense. Dude needs a boost of confidence. Maybe a sports psychologist could help.

Reddish better step up or he will be expendable and be traded or waived

my YouTube feed brought up a short clip of highlights of Jared McCain vs. Bronny from high school. Interesting how only one of them is a legit NBA player.

From ESPN - "Jazz: Kyle Filipowski is showing signs of evolving into a reliable scorer. The rookie forward is averaging 16.0 points on 68.4% shooting over his last two games."

Utah over Dallas last night. 30 minutes, 6-8 and 1-1 from 3, 7 rebounds (but only 1-4 from the free throw line, what is it with us and free throws this year?)
I watched the game. Flip definitely looked like he belonged. At times he was matched up on Lively. But quite a bit he got switched off onto Luka which was fun to watch. The announcers were praising his tough D on Luka.

Both McCain and Flip are looking like big NBA draft night wins for the Sixers and Jazz.

It remains crazy to me that a guy that was 7 feet tall, could dribble, pass, and shoot and was a plus defender away from the rim didn't go in the first round. Some of the GMs out there were either too smart for for their own good or were duped by the Jazz into letting him fall to them. Maybe it was a little of both.

McCain started again tonight even with Embiid and George back in action.
That will probably change when Maxey comes back next week.
Jared has 4 points and 3 assists so far in the 2nd quarter.

McCain on fire to start the 3rd with 8 points in under four minutes. He has 17 already.

Edit: add another 3 - he is really fun to watch right now!

McCain actually fouled out with about 5 minutes remaining and he had 29 points on 10-17 FG and 5-10 3PT.
The Sixers are a hot mess right now so McCain is one of the few bright spots.
