Blue Devils in the NBA 2024-2025

Woj reporting that the Pels are getting Dejounte Murray for Larry Nance, Dyson Daniels, and a couple firsts.

Zion (and BI if they keep him) gets another talented guard. Pelicans still have some some questions at center that get bigger without Nance (their draft pick, Yves Missi, is probably not the answer in the short term). Assuming they don't start Zion at the 5, that's five starter quality guys (Murray, BI, Herb Jones, McCollum, and Trey Murphy) for three spots. Might portend they are open to moving on from Ingram?

So you're telling me the Hawks have traded their best player (sorry Trae, but the defensive end of the floor matters) for a pair of mediocre rotation pieces and 2 draft picks held by teams that figure to be in the back half of the first round.

Mason's deal is for the veteran minimum, which is all the Suns could offer because they are waaay above the cap. for a player with Mason's experience, the vet minimum is a pretty decent $3.3 mil for the season.

He actually walks into a pretty good spot there. The Suns desperately needed a backup C for when Jusuf Nurkic is not in the game. Nice for Mason that he will again be playing for a team that has high hopes in the loaded West (likely to be battling for something like the #3-#7 seed).

The free agency posts from the 2023-2024 Blue Devils in the NBA thread have been relocated to this thread for the new season, since the moves all address what will be happening (and where our Blue Devils will be playing) in the 2024-2025 season.

Shams and Woj competing again, in the all-important arena of Breaking News about former Duke players.

And here I thought the Grizzlies drafted Cam Spencer because Luke Kennard was leaving.
Cam exercised his option with the Lakers, but I believe the team has 15 players under contract as we speak, including the draftees. This is a team that needs to add talent, and that costs money obviously. I won't be surprised if Cam ends up getting cut.

For those wondering, The Athletic crunched the numbers, and under the current CBA and projected increases in the salary cap, players on supermax contracts will be making an nine figure annual salaries starting in the 2032-33 season (i.e. 35% of a projected $305,000,000 cap).

Wow. I once saw some ROI figures suggesting guys like LBJ were actually undervalued relative to the market their presence created. Even with his title I still hadn’t thought of Tatum as in that stratosphere. This contract suggests otherwise.

Woj: "Tyus Jones — the market’s top remaining free agent guard — has agreed on a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Bradbury of @LiftSportsMNGMT tells ESPN."

Phoenix is signing Tyus Jones, three weeks after signing Monte Morris. Both players are elite at taking care of the ball, ranking at the top of the assist-to-turnover ratio leaderboards for years...

While Jones probably won’t be out there for longer than 25 minutes a night, he will greatly aid the Suns’ horrid turnovers, offensive flow and overall play during the fourth quarter from last year.

Didn't see this anywhere else, but it seems like Deuce is a big brother. Reports are that Jayson Tatum and his rumored girlfriend, R&B Singer Ella Mai, welcomed their first baby sometime recently. Ella Mai and baby were in several pictures with Jayson and Deuce and Jayson's mom following the Olympics. Ella Mai was also seen with a noticeable baby bump at the NBA Finals in a Tatum jersey. The two have never confirmed their relationship.

Who would've thought that Allen would've ended up being the best and most well paid out of the 4 from that class.
