Blue Devils in the NBA 2024-2025

Jacob Grandison was waived by the Warriors' G League team.

The complete the circuit on some transfers who were not in NBA training camp, but were on G League training camp rosters, Jordan Goldwire is with Greensboro and Joey Baker is with Grand Rapids.

I am not sure there is much for an overseas thread at this point in the season so I am posting this here. Michael Savarino started his professional career after finishing up at NYU and immediately won the championship in Costa Rica. He recently made his European debut with a 31 point game in Portugal's second division.

This sounds like a good start to maximizing the opportunities that basketball is offering you.

First NBA points for Flip. Had 12 in a loss to the Kings. 5-10 from the floor, 2-5 from 3. Also had 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.
Taylor Hendricks had a really bad leg injury on Monday. That has clearly opened up more time for rookie Flip. It also helped that Lauri Markkanen is suffering from back spasms and sat the entire second half Tuesday night. The game being a 20+ point blow out also allowed the Jazz to give more minutes to Flip.

After playing just 9 total minutes in the Jazz first four games he had 25 mp last night.

Zion (31) and Brandon both had 30 pt games on excellent FG shooting (12/19 & 12/17 respectively) in the loss to GSW. Zion had 2 very poor shooting games to start the season after sitting out the 1st game with illness. Z came close to tickling a trip-doub with 8 rebs and 7 turnovers. Ooof. The Pels only had Zion and Brandon score more than 10 points, although 9 other guys did score the other 45 points. Steph Curry didn't even play for GSW...
Kyrie scored 35 (13/23 FGs) in the win over MIN. D-Live chipped in with 5 & 9, but also 3 steals, a block and assist.

McCain hits double figures for the first time with 12 tonight in a loss to Detroit. He was 6-6 from the line and missed several good shots. He really showed an ability to drive to the rim but needs a bit more strength to finish. Great effort on D and it seems he is earning the coach’s trust. Will be curious to see how much he plays when the Sixers have its full roster.

Rough night in the NBA for Duke alums, 2 Ws vs 9 Ls. The 2 wins belonged to Seth Curry with CHO (7-2-1) and Big Marv in DET (2-1-0).
Excellent games from RJ Barrett for TOR (31-8-2) on good shooting (10-18 FGs), Paolo (31-7-4, 12-22 FGs) and Jalen Johnson with a big dub-doub for ATL (21-17-4-3), all in losing efforts. Jayson scored 37 but wasn't particularly efficient (10-25 FGs) but did hit 5 3s (5-18). Brandon Ingram was ok in the Pels loss to GSW for the 2nd consecutive night (14-5-6) but Zion had an atrocious night shooting (5-20 FGs and 2-7 FTs) but did secure a doub-doub with 12 & 12.
I'm going to agree with everyone else who thinks that the NBA's new back-to-back no-nights-off rematch between the same teams format is an incredibly stupid idea. At least from a quality of play and fan's perspective. It undoubtedly reduces travel expenses and jet fuel (carbon emissions), so it's a win for the climate!

Excellent piece about Tyus Jones on ESPN and what he has brought to the Suns this year. I knew the Suns flamed out in the first round last year but I had not paid enough attention to realize that they had moved Bradley Beal to PG - a move that was not effective at all. Suns pursued Tyus as a low cost option - one that is doing well so far. Tyus gave up some big bucks to play with a contender. Will pull for them - at least till they play the Celtics!

After a great start to the season, Paolo Banchero has torn an oblique and will be out 4-6 weeks. Bummer.

Link
Fwiw, the article I read said he will be reevaluated in 4-6 weeks, so that could be a best case scenario. Very unfortunate, especially since he started the season so strong and seemed poised to possibly elevate his game to another level.

I’m just so tired of the Duke curse hitting our NBA guys. It really does seem to happen at an abnormally high rate, especially for our really good players. Sigh…

Washington Post article looking at the Suns and the Bucks, praising Tyus especially and also Mason, not mentioning Grayson, and saying that Trent hasn't done much for the Bucks yet. Gift link: https://wapo.st/4f7LqRx

I'm really happy to see Tyus getting recognition for excellent point guard play.

Tyus had 11 assists vs. 1 turnover last night. Dude is a magician withe ball. MP2 with 8-6 and 2 steals and a block. Grayson had a putrid night shooting the ball (1-8 FGs, 0-5 3FGs) but did have 5-3-4 r-a-stl...
Trent (MIL) didn't connect from 3 (0-7 3FGs) but hit 4-5 from 2.

McCain scores 8 straight including his first 3-pointer to get to 10 for the game in under 9 minutes played. 76ers down big in the 4th to Memphis but Jared gives the team some good energy.

Edit: he immediately hits another long 3 and is playing like the FSU game!
