Blue Devils in the NBA 2024-2025

McCain ends up with 19 in under 17 minutes. He had a basket given to a teammate that might have tipped it in although I thought the ball was going in on its own- so was either touched illegally or actually wasn’t and McCain should have gotten credit. Only matters because McCain would have his first 20-point game.

Gunner McCain😀. Took 16 shots in 16+ minutes (made half of them)

RJ Barrett with a big scoring night (31) for TOR on poor shooting (10-26 FG) but 9-6-1 r-a-stl. Tyus (15-5-6 p-r-a) had another night of gaudy stats, and Grayson finally had a good game (18 pts on 7-12 FGs) for PHO.
It seems like Big Marv is not finding himself in good favor in WAS, as he hardly gets off the bench, and is only averaging 4+ ppg.
Gary Trent's horrid start to the season continues in MIL, shooting 1-10 FGs, and sports a 25% 3FG. MIL in general is off to a baaaaaaaaaad start...

Brandon Ingram had a staf-stuffer of an evening in the loss to ATL (31-7-2-1-1) while Jalen Johnson outdid Brandon (29-9-8-2-2). Unfortunately Zion has been bit by the injury bug and DNP-hammy.
D-Live with a doub-doub (11-11) and Kyrie had a modest night (17-2-3-2) in the win over the Paolo-less ORL. Wendell Carter didn't play much, only 8+ minutes, and scored 6.
Wendell Moore played 54 seconds worth of statsless ball in DET's win over BKY.

I fear Carter is injured- but hopefully just day-to-day. He sat out the previous game and did not play in the second half last night.

Has everyone pretty much given up on the idea that he is going to be a true impact player? It seems that he is always hurt. He is so, so great when healthy, but he just doesn't stay healthy for long enough.

Ringer article questioning Zion’s impact even if healthy

Unfortunately, yes. I attempted to give him the benefit of the doubt, even at the beginning of this season. But he can’t even get through the first few weeks of the regular season without missing games. I’ll still root for him, but I’ve absolutely given up on him being a true superstar.

Only 2 Duke alums played last night, and that's how many points they scored in total, for probably the lowest total on any night in which Duke alums have played.
Gary Trent finally lost his starting spot for MIL after not being able to throw a rock in the ocean to start the season. He was 1-2 from the field for 2 points.
Kyle Filipowski didn't scratch in just over 4 minutes on 0-1 FGs in Utah's loss.

I've only been tracking for the last couple of years, but in that time we've had:
  1. 05/16/2024 - 0 Points (Wendell Moore)
  2. 04/14/2023 - 2 Points (Ausing Rivers, Wendell Moore)
Also during that same span, the most points we've had was 288, reached on 11/07/2022 (18 players) and 02/14/2024 (17 players).

Zion out indefinitely ...

Sometimes people are unlucky, sometimes they don't have proper conditioning. Either way, this just stinks.
Meh, I'm over Zion, he has had 5 years to show dedication to the craft and has failed. I expect the Pels will try to trade him this season, maybe a fresh start will make a difference although I don't think he's earned the benefit of the doubt.
