2024-25 Announcer Thread

I sometimes join the in-game chat on DBR. Moonpie seems to have a provider that is the opposite of me and sees things before they happen so he and others are posting about things that I won't see for a long time.

This was all a fun party trick to play on my kids who didn't know how I knew what was about to happen, but they have figured me out.

I get that occasionally things will run over, but this has become an increasingly recurring problem. But there is not much we can do about it.
This is one of the reasons I rarely chat during games.

Yup. As someone who grew tired of him when he was active, I’m not gonna show anything but love for an 85-year old cancer survivor with a passion for college basketball. Enjoy your season in the sun.
Definitely. It's not just that he was the face of college hoops and helped propel it to where it is now. It's not just that he's survived cancer multiple times. It's not just that he's an icon.

It's that he spends every moment he can trying to help others. He's shameless about it. He does everything he can to help cure cancer, even before he had cancer.

I hope they keep giving him a platform as long as he can do it.

And I think the duo of Alexander and Vitale reduces the amount of Alexander pointless stories. So if there's Alexander, I hope there's Vitale (or anyone else, really).

I wonder how this compares to other conferences. Someone should do a deep dive. Wouldn’t it be wild if *every* conference’s teams were a combined .500 in league play?
I don't know statistics, but one might say that just shows how evenly the talent is distributed in college.

Oh wait, I do know basic math and I know how things work if you add up N games each with one winner and one loser.

This may be the stupidest thing an announcer has said in a game this year...
In a similar vein, the ACC may have been down in Nov and Dec, but they have been on a roll recently.

According to Torvik's website, the ACC has won 100 games since Jan 4. That is more than any other conference! The vastly over-rated SEC has only won 90 games since Jan 4.

Of course, the ACC has also lost more games than any other conference since Jan 4, but let's not focus on that.

For the record, the two conferences with the best winning percentages since Jan 4 are the MAC ( .514) and CAA (.503). The MAC is above .500 because, apparently, there was a MAC/Sun Belt challenge this past weekend and the MAC went 8-4. The CAA is above .500 because Hampton beat Howard in a non-conference game on Feb 1. These are the only non-conference games played after Jan 4.

What about the Washington v. Nebraska game? And the Oregon v. Rutgers game? And West Virginia v. Arizona State? Or Iowa St. v. Central Florida?

Oh, nevermind…

Let’s hope that he stays out of the sun.
