I still go to Bullock's when I'm in Durham. The family style dinner for a big group is still worth it!! Also - it is the only place in the world where I will drink sweet tea. I prefer unsweetened - it's probably why they made me move to Massachusetts - but at Bullock's, I'll drink the sweet stuff. But I trust Clem. I'll have to try the Original Q Shack next time I visit the parents.
We still love Bullock's. Still highly recommend!

Not the best Q by any means but great value and a cultural experience. Loved to bring Yankee work colleagues there on business trips. Had them enjoy and analyze Brunswick stew

I ain't here for the nostalgia. I'm here for the meats. Bullocks is pretty good. It has fallen off quite a bit over the years. Speedy's in Lexington has as well. But Bullocks is fine if you have an emotional attachment, and your friend is likely to be impressed there Rich. It is pretty good still.

I have a coworker who loves to go to Mission BBQ when we all go to Madison, WI. Bless his heart. And Mission is fine. It is smoked meats. Tastes pretty good. But there is a place called Beef Butter BBQ that is doing the Lord's work in Madison. That's where I would rather go.

To be fair, I go to Bullocks for the Brunswick Stew - anybody else in Durham do Brunswick Stew like Bullocks?

In the Boston area, there is one restaurant that claims to serve "North Carolina style pork BBQ" that does, in fact, serve North Carolina style pork BBQ. Do not be fooled by New England establishments that offer "pulled pork". If you find yourself in the Boston area and absolutely must have a taste of home (when home is NC), then your only choice is Blue Ribbon BBQ. And I lied, I will, very occasionally, get their sweet tea but their lemonade is better and their sweet tea ain't Bullocks.

Checking out both menus and it seems Bullock's has Brunswick Stew but no hushpuppies and the Q Shack vice versa. Anyone care to comment?

There used to be Davis Barbecue in Morrisville, but they closed. Their stew was very very close to Bullock's. Byrd's on Cheek Rd has very good stew.

We rolled into Durm an hour ago from the DMV. We hit a snow-covered I-85 in Oxford, mostly sleet in Butner, back to snow in Durm.
