The longest thread ever

I lived in DC for 6 years in the '90's, went to the same fitness center as Strom Thurmond, and saw him naked in the locker room more times than I'd like to think about. Now THAT'S uncomfortable!

But did he offer you any hard candies?

That’s a great story! One of the reasons I love DBR! I cannot top that, just a lot of urinal stories on Capitol Hill staring straight ahead.

Does that mean there is a lesser number of times that you DO like to think about?

Just curious not really.

I believe we have mentioned Strom's most excellent Senate nickname, have we not? Always good for a yuk among the boys...

In my neck of the woods, the celebrities you see around are usually of the intellectual sort. My brushes with fame stories mostly involve Nobel prize winners, as I have mentioned here before.

I'm am going back to London in March. I have tickets to see Tom Hiddleston as Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing, Jared Harris as Claudius in Hamlet, and Jonathan Bailey as Richard in Richard II. The Hamlet show is actually at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon so we're doing a day trip there. The hubby is coming with me this time.

Jared Harris was one of the freshman I was assigned to guide during orientation. Didn't keep up with him much after that.

This is awesome! My wife and I saw Julius Caesar when we went in 2017. It was a cool experience.

Had a great meal at The Dirty Duck nearby, if you're looking for recommendations. A former student used to work there, and passed it along. It's not fine dining - it's an upscale pub - but I remember it being tasty.

I'm guessing early '90s because he was full blown Weekend at Bernie's by the end of them.

Had a friend quote someone who cited a paper which found, "Only 1 of 5 studies graded as excellent quality showed a negative association between fluoride exposure and cognitive outcomes, whereas 30 of 34 poor and fair quality studies reported a negative association." I'm tempted to call them an idiot, but is it really worth the effort?
