Podcasts that talk about Duke Men's Basketball 2024-25

The Devil's Den crew has 24/7's recruiting guru, Travis Branham, on to talk about the Duke squad and the current recruiting effort. The talk about Duke's targets in 2025 starts around 35 minutes.

I enjoy the Locked On podcast and have especially enjoyed the times that Jason and Donald have appeared as guests. It was like that time the Avengers crossed over into an X-Men comic book when I was 9 or 10. All of my favorite people in one place :)
Because it's a daily, this pod can really be paper thin. The Ball Durham dude is pretty poor, but the quality does depend on the guest. Host JJ Jackson is a very affable guy who, when sometimes forced to base an entire pod on a single piece of "news" like a tweet, gamely marches forward as if he is reporting on Watergate.

Best thing we got from Rodd Baxley was a little dose of reality about Duke's fate this season. Donald asked him the very wise question -- "What, right now, is the thing most likely to be a big problem for Duke?"

Rodd's answer -- Proctor and Foster. He pointed out that Duke loaded up on options all over the rest of the floor but really seem to think that Reese and CFos are good to go handling the backcourt duties (though Sion could help out, for sure). That could turn out fine, but Rodd noted those two guys need to be better than they were a year ago for this Duke team to reach its potential.

We all focus on the shiny new object from the portal or high school, but we need to remember that Proctor wasn't nearly the All-ACC player folks expected him to be last season and Foster, despite getting plenty of playing time, really only had a major impact on a small number of games (Mich St and Baylor were the only competitive games where he was much of a plus). Foster had far and away the lowest usage percentage of the top 6 players at 16.6%. Most games he was largely invisible.

Look, we all know about the sophomore leap and there is little question that injuries played a big role in Reese's up and down season, but if you want a reason to have some tempered expectations about Duke this year then look no further than the very legitimate questions about our returning backcourt.

CFos also admitted recently that his ankle injury was slowing him down all last season until he finally just couldn't go on it anymore and had to shut it down for the year.

I think we are going to see a nice step forward by both these guys with strong support from Sion. I'll be surprised if we aren't the best defensive backcourt in the ACC and one of the best in the country. These are three NBA-caliber athletes at 6-5, 6-6 - very few teams will have that.

And we don't need any of these guys to be a dominant scorer with all our other options. 30-35 efficient points per game out of our backcourt trio should be just fine.

From the DBR Countdown pod - I know Jason doesn't want to reveal his identity, but IMO the player who doesn't listen to music is 100% Kon Knueppel. It was said around the time of his recruitment that he's not on much social media, and I could totally see him being someone who doesn't even own a pair of Beats.

Cooper said in his Brotherhood podcast interview that he doesn't listen to music.

If I can stretch the parameters of the thread a little to include Duke guys talking about other teams, Jay Bilas discusses UConn with a group of teenagers (?) who host a podcast called How 'Bout Them Huskies.

The Boneyard (the Connecticut message board) had two reactions: surprise that these young men were able to get Bilas, and praise for the conversation and Bilas' knowledge.
