NFL 2024-25 General Discussion

I thought about that. He doesn’t make it part of game day. Still, he’s not coming to my birthday party.
To be fair, Kaepernick didn't really make it a thing at all until someone noticed during a preseason game that he was sitting on the bench during the national anthem. He practiced personal, silent protest until media caught wind of it and he rightly felt the need to justify his absence from participation in the anthem (because god forbid!)

Also, in further defense of Kaep, there's a big difference between silently protesting on behalf of a mistreated minority group versus going out of your way - loudly - to tell all women how they should live and that their ideal life should be spent in subservience.

And now, back to the football! I'm ready for the November-January 49ers to make an appearance - so sick of this playing down to competition and digging themselves a hole nonsense early every season.

My next door neighbors are HUGE Seahawks fans. They've never been to Seattle, but have all the flags, jerseys, chants, etc you can possibly imagine.

The are going to be at the Thursday night Seahawks/49ers game in person in a few weeks and are just beside themselves with excitement.

I’m curious how one becomes a huge Seahawks fan without having ever been to Seattle.

Steelers, Cowboys, etc I can understand. But Seattle?

I have a friend from Connecticut who is also a huge Seahawks fan - has been one since the 80s. He roots for the Seahawks, Bucks (since well before Giannis), Mets and UConn. Mets and UConn make sense even though I despise both of them (he went to a NESCAC school). No idea how he chose the others but they were both really mediocre when he chose them and he has since had some better luck.

Well. He grew up in Asheville and his dad was a huge Cowboys fan. He knew he didn't like the Cowboys (evidence of a smart feller) and decided at age 7 he liked the colors of the Seahawks, so why not? To his credit. That was about 45 years ago and he has never wavered.

(Addendum) To his discredit, he's also a life-long Tar Heel fan. It's a good thing we have NFL season to bond over, because March is a little more heated.

Sounds like my daughter, who won a NCAA pick em for basketball tournament... Picked which mascot she liked better in the final 16

Only a disrespectful punk-#ss kid would turn his back on his father like that.

Pretty much says it all about your neighbor. 😉
