Ok getting back to non-murder things…

The Heisman race is getting interesting. If they give it to Ashton Jeanty (Boise St) would be the first non-power conference winner in 50+ years. Idk if the powers that be will let that happen, but he’s just tearing everyone apart (though for balance given there will be critics, it’s against inferior competition)

I say no shot. Favorites have to be Gabriel and Beck and I guess Hunter. Interesting case will be Ewers. Outstanding QB of what looks like the best team but he missed several games and the team was fine. Winner of Texas-Georgia game’s QB is probably in the drivers seat along with Gabriel.

What’s crazy is Vegas still gives Jeanty the best odds (+150). Next closest is Gabriel (+325). It seems odd to me too that it would go to a non-P4 and I question the likelihood. It’s interesting that Vegas has more faith in this though

Not sure if it's 50 years depending on how you count BYU. Ty Detmer won in 1990 so that's only 34/35

They were an independent so I was counting them as effectively P4 (given they are today and, let’s be honest, BYU is a legit program that has historically had lots of fans and money, recent MWC history aside)

Excluding Army / Navy (which we powerhouses back in the day), the last non-major Heisman was 1951 (Princeton)

Hook ‘em! The Texas Longhorns dominated hated rival Oklahoma 34-3 on Saturday, holding them without a touchdown for the second time in the past three games of their storied rivalry.

And now mighty Georgia is coming to the great city of Austin in just four days. Going to be a challenge for Texas to fully recharge the emotional batteries so soon after the OU game. Should be a classic, though.

Ain’t college football a beautiful thing? 🏈

I was going to note George Rogers of USC, but the Gamecocks do fit through your independent loophole.

The spirit of what I’m getting at though you all understand. It’s been a long, long time since anyone outside of the major schools has been genuinely in consideration for the Heisman (not just there to get a token invite to NY so the writers can pretend there’s equity). It’s wild, and a bit refreshing to see

pretty soon the Big Ten/SEC consortium will insist that the Heisman go to one of their athletes.

Tennessee doing what Tennessee does come late October and beyond. Today Alabama looks to be the recipient. 3 turnovers and 2 missed FGs thus far for the Vols - and we aren’t even at halftime yet. 😆

I didn’t have high expectations for Michigan this season, but it looks like loss #3 is coming against Illinois today - effectively eliminating the Wolverines from the playoff. And the remaining schedule is brutal meaning Michigan likely will be 6-6 or 7-5 unless the team finds a new gear.

I’m sure the fans aren’t complaining too much after last season…
