NCAA Football 2024 (national discussion)

I may have missed it but I don't think we have a thread for nation-wide college football stuff this year.

Please do not post ACC-related or Duke-related info in this thread. They have their own threads.

I'll start with this note...

I am certainly not a football analyst, so the bar for educating me about how plays are run is pretty low, but I found this analysis of the way the USC offense fooled the LSU D on the game-winning touchdown to be really insightful.
I definitely am not an analyst; I've never played a down of football (outside phys ed class) in my life. But... I am confused by the video analyst's assessment that LSU's #10 was watching USC's #8x (next to left tackle) as a possible pass receiver. That "tight end" (because he wore an 80 jersey) appears to be covered by another #8y split out to the left; USC had an unbalanced line on that last play. Thus, LSU #10 was overly concerned about a player that was an ineligible receiver. I am not disagreeing that the LSU free safety was moving to defend the potential pass to the wing player.

Jeez... Can the ACC just trade FSU for someone... anyone? Idaho, perhaps? They gave Oregon a scare... All the bellyaching and the 'Noles can't beat their way out of a paper bag, it seems... Down 21-6 against BC at home and now pulling trick plays out of their bag...

Amazing how FSU has gone from a really good defense last year to this. Their D line was supposedly going to be strong again this year, but both GT and BC have crushed them with the run.

Here's a riddle for you: They can't run, nor can they stop the run. Who are they? A: FSU

How embarrassing... If you're gonna whine and take a holier-than-thou stance about football and revenue shares, you should at least try not to start 0-2 against unranked teams or get curb-stomped by Georgia...

Prognosticators pretty unanimously picked Texas and many think it could be a blowout. Texas now leads 7-0 and definitely looks like the better team so far, but it is early and in the road…

Michigan appears overmatched to me.
Yeah, Texas is winning the line of scrimmage and just looks better. Michigan is a proud program coming off a national championship. It is hard to imagine it won’t respond but right now the Wolverines are in trouble.

Multiple Top 25 teams currently losing: Michigan, Penn State, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Georgia Tech.

Saturday chaos.
