Interesting. Thanks for this info. There's some research showing ice is actually detrimental for soft tissue injuries.

True. By the way he seems to talk thrash to opposing players when they call a time out etc, hope it doesn't get called tauntingDon’t think there has been enough love for Proctor’s contribution to the win. Before Kon took over in the second half, it was Tyrese who really provided the spark and leadership, especially on D, culminating with that steal and slam.
I think he'll be the key to a win against UNC tomorrow if that's how things play out. Just glad he seems healthy.Don’t think there has been enough love for Proctor’s contribution to the win. Since "at least 2005"? They went back to 2005 and got bored of checking?
You could, but if you're going to head back to Duke and have the images downloaded to be looked at by Duke MSK radiologists, you might as well just get the imaging done there and use the protocol the radiologists are used to. I'm sure there are also excellent radiologists in Charlotte, of course, but they'd want an official interpretation done by the people they know and trust anyway.Wouldn’t you just pick up the images on a thumb drive or whatever before leaving?
Here's an article that covers the basics. The guy who came up with RICE originally has actually led some of the research. The gist of it is restricting blood flow slows down the healing process and the restriction lasts a lot longer than the time you actually have ice on the injury. Can you share more?
The idea has always been ice keeps swelling down. But does ice slow down the healing?
I agree Scott, except to let Withers shoot and dare him to. He has shown that he can hit that shot this season. Have to get a body on him most of the time.We can still beat UNC without Cooper and Maliq—we just have much less wiggle room in how we do it.
In Chapel Hill we were able to pivot strategies midway through the game because of the flexibility Maliq provides, combined with Cooper's transcendence. Without them, we still have the guys to shut down RJ Davis and make someone else beat us. Doing that will just involve taking more risks (not switching with Man-Man, some more aggressive hedges, daring guys like Withers to make shots), hence less wiggle room. But we can still execute the game plan to beat UNC better than a lot of the teams that have beaten UNC this year. If Lubin gets a double double and Withers and Trimble make a ton of 3s and we lose, so be it. But we can make it so that that has to happen for them to win even without Coop and Maliq.
Oh, and BTW, I have to imagine every one on the court wearing a Duke jersey will be plenty stoked to get to put their stamp on the rivalry in said scenario.
Totally agreeYeah, can confirm. Getting images from one facility to another can be very frustrating for all concerned.
Was it over when the Germans invaded Las Vegas?Do some of you people even read what you post?
It's impossible... We can't win... Boo hoo hoo...
Like, were you a fan when Coach K was the head coach? Can you imagine him (or Jon for that matter, or any of our players) saying something like this?
Do you remember the UNLV game? The final regular season game in Chapel Hill in 2001? etc etc
I really hope that unc wins their game, so that we can beat them while down two rotation players, and a whole host of posters on this board have the chance to think about what Duke basketball means, the standard of excellence that every player is going to bring to the court, and the (missed, blown) opportunity to give your team some support in the darker hours.
Yes - he was dealing with scraps much of the season. If a coach has a lousy team I blame them as recruiting is part of the job. In this case it was mainly injuries, which is not his fault.I am impressed with Damon Stoudamire. After watching that monstrosity of a UNC v Wake game, I think Mighty Mouse does a lot with a little. In the pre-game thread, brevity posted an EvanMiya graphic that showed Tech has missed the most possible talent/production due to injury of any team in the P5. Hopefully he sticks around and solidifies the middle class of the league.
