You got that right. I'm angry at the 1945 Sugar Bowl.DBR. Proof that time does NOT heal everything.
I still remember the Maine. You got that right. I'm angry at the 1945 Sugar Bowl.
Which Duke won??You got that right. I'm angry at the 1945 Sugar Bowl.
When we went to the tournament (pre 2020), they actually switched the home bench between games in each session. That way, the higher seeded team could have their f&f behind the bench each game (and the lower seeded team’s f&f sat across the court from the benches). Might have changed, though.I seem to recall that the higher seeded team gets to choose their bench. Or maybe that's the NCAAs.

Oh, no; the bubble is carolina's; no one else inhabits it. Or so it seems, listening to espn. That's completely insane. I'm not a statistician but that is a wild distribution.
Maybe Tech should be in the bubble discussion instead of Carolina
Yeah. 1965 still hurts
Not sure what it says about me but even though I was a Duke fan from 1963 onward, the only games I specifically remember from the sixties are the 1963 loss to Loyola, the 1965 loss to NC state, and the 1966 loss to Kentucky.Yeah. 1965 still hurts.
They misspelled 1988The ACC Store gets nostalgic for $38. Not sure if it would get delivered on time; maybe they'll sell some in Charlotte?

I’m too lazy to do the math but at a quick glance I think Sanford, Pittsburgh, and Georgia Tech would all have positive conference efficiency margins were it not for the scale of their losses to Duke. This is as good a place as any to put this - final conference-only efficiency margin numbers. Pretty amazing that in an 18-team league only 6 teams outscored their opponents during conference play.
ACC Conference-Only Efficiency Margin
Duke: +33.0
Louisville: +18.6
Clemson: +17.2
SMU: +7.6
North Carolina: +6.3
Wake Forest: +2.9
Stanford: -1.0
Pittsburgh: -2.0
Georgia Tech: -2.6
Welcome! My wife is also running the half this weekend. We’re not known as a great sports bar city, if I’m being honest. I will watch at home in Brooklyn, but Féile near Penn Station advertises itself as the Duke basketball bar in Manhattan.Going to be in New York City this weekend, the wife is running the United half marathon. Need a place to watch Friday night's game (if Duke wins Thursday that is, never take things for granted this time of year). Suggestions? We are staying in SoHo.
Agreed - NYC doesn't really have a Duke spot. And I have found that when something is organized, most of the people there have very little interest in actually watching basketball - people tended to be there to see and be seen, rather out of their love for Duke basketball.Welcome! Since you’re in SoHo, I might suggest Blue Haven on Houston? I’ve caught a few day games there over the years. It can sometimes be a really young crowd, just FYI. Hope you have a great trip and wishing a great race to your wife!
Isn't that the story of a lot of the NYC (and other locations) social events?...people tended to be there to see and be seen, rather out of their love for Duke basketball.
Judy-Z's on 7th Ave in neighboring West Village is also a decent option. Genuine sports bar with very good pub grub.Welcome! My wife is also running the half this weekend. Triple sweeps are so fun, though. (I remember a bumper sticker from the 80s that had each game's score on it, all Duke victories of course.)I think Duke has good chance of winning the tournament. Clemson and Louisville are more than capable of beating Duke so its not a given. I do not want Duke to face UNC again because that possible third time favors UNC. It is difficult to beat the same team(s) twice in a short time frame.
