Blue Devils in the NBA 2024-2025

Wendell Moore is having himself a game in tonight’s preseason game against Milwaukee. 14 points on 5-6, 2-2 on 3s, 8 rebs, a steal and 2 blocks (also 1 assist and 2 TOs)
Wendell needs to make the most of this season with the Pistons. He has a $4.57 mil option for next season and he is gonna have to perform this year or I suspect the Pistons won't pick it up. Of course, Detroit is among the worst teams in the league and would seem to have room to develop some wing depth. I really hope Wendell can get some minutes and begin to show that he belongs at this level.

Worth noting that Grayson played the 3 almost exclusively last year for Phoenix and seems even more likely to do so this year with Tyus on the roster as true PG option
I don't remember Allen playing the 3 most of the season. He played a lot of PG early in the year while Beal was on the shelf. When the Suns backcourt got healthy, Allen moved to the wing. There's not much difference between a wing and a traditional SF position anymore. I agree that he will probably come off the bench with Tyus on the roster.

I don’t know why Shams calls Carter’s deal a “max extension.” It is nowhere near the max for a player with Wendell’s experience. A max deal for someone with 7-9 years of experience (which is what Wendell will be when this contract kicks into effect) would be north of $45 mil per season. Wendell is making about $19 mil a year.

Still, a great contract and generational wealth for the former Dukie who was unfairly fouled out of his final game.

My guess is he means maximum in terms of duration, not dollars, since this extension keeps him under contract for five future seasons, the longest you can go under one extension. I'm not sure most people think duration when someone says "max extension," though.

This is the max for an extension, which is based on the existing contract. If he waited until his current contract expired, then he could sign for more. Most players were doing that, but the new CBA is spooking a lot of the NBA middle class and players are trying to lock in as much guaranteed money as possible.

Most assuredly NOT A BLUE DEVIL but this is worth noting about our neighbors down the road.

Danny Green is hanging up his sneakers...

Green had a heck of a career, winning rings with 3 different teams (2014 Spurs, 2019 Raptors, 2020 Lakers). He is one of only 4 players in NBA history to win a title with three different franchises. A few years ago, you could have made a pretty good argument he was the best Tar Heel in the NBA at that time (which says something about the quality of NBA players the Heels have produced over the past decade or so).

I'm not saying he invented the term, but for a while he was the quintessential "3 & D" guy in the league.

He retires with lifetime earnings of just over $104 million. Not bad for a guy who kicked around the G-League for several seasons before finally getting a real shot in the league.

Danny Green had a great NBA Career.

It's worth noting that his retirement will almost surely reduce the number of former Tar Heels in the NBA. The only UNC player that has been drafted in the past 3 seasons is Harrison Ingram, who is likely to start the year in the G-League for the Spurs.

PG in maybe a de facto sense of bringing the ball up and initiating the offense. But even with Beal out, Grayson was very much of a secondary (at best) playmaker, with more of the offense flowing through Booker, KD and even Nurkic. He was relied on even less for playmaking when Beal was healthy. Whether as a starter or reserve, his primary roles will remain floor spacing and defending opposing - and often bigger/longer - wings.

One of my less hated Heels, over time. Dancin Danny was a pretty good roleplayer.
