Blue Devils in the NBA 2024-2025

Rollercoaster reaction when I read about MW to Lakers last night. "Yikes, that's a lot to give up for a defensive specialist. Oh, wait, he averages 16/10 on efficient shooting, sweet. Oh, crap, he's injured all the time."

Agree great fit with Luka, just hope his ankles get more resilient and his back problems aren't chronic.

No one chatting about BI to the Raptors, eh?

I think this writer does a decent job of analyzing the deal. He joins a fairly crowded wing rotation that includes RJ.
Just seems like a weird deal given that he is on an expiring. Is he even going to play the rest of the season?

I hope he likes cold weather. Living in Toronto in the Winter is not for the cold-adverse. Almost a completely different climate than New Orleans.

Yea I don't get this for the Raptors unless they plan on moving Barrett.
Yeah, I wouldn't assume Ingram will be in Toronto next year, depends on whether he's realistic about what he's worth at this point. I could see him end up like Pete Alonso, short-term contract at relatively low AAV, with chance to opt-out after 1 year. I'd imagine Toronto knows they're rolling the dice a bit but the chance to get him at a discount makes that worthwhile.

I've been hoping/expecting for the Pels to move on from Zion, but haven't heard any rumblings.

BI is better a better scorer than RJ. RJ is just so inefficient. RJ is more rugged, so if TOR can just convince him to be more selective with his shots he'd be a great point-SF.

Now Marvin Bagley III (and Johnny Davis) to Memphis for Marcus Smart. Three-team deal involving the Kings.

All these complex multi-team trades are mind-boggling and it makes me wonder how players and draft picks are quanitified. There must be some valuation system used to assign each asset with an expected performance rating and projected salary. I've not seen mention of such a system.

It’s better start being productive time for Cam Reddish. He plays defense but rarely scores points.
Unfortunately I think we've seen the writing on the wall for Cam. This is his umpteenth team and he's never stuck. By all accounts he is a great teammate (in an interview with Jordan Goldwire, he said that Cam and Trevon Duval were two of the best teammates he ever had at Duke), but he has never developed an NBA game. He's just kind of there on the court.

He was with the Lakers for 2 years, and has played for 4 teams. He's never been a very efficient scorer, but his PT and productivity were by far career lows while in LA. There's nothing about his play prior to arriving in LA to inidcate that he's doomed, but if he doesn't bounce back from those Hollywood nights, in the those Hollywood hills....

So he is playing against the wind?

Wow, that came out of nowhere. Trevon is a Duke guy who seems to have been largely forgotten. But I’ll never forget that sensational dunk against UNC:

I am skeptical that Cam will ever suit up for the Hornets. Would not be surprised if he’s released or bought out.
