Blue Devils in the NBA 2024-2025

The Brooklyn Nets are abysmally bad already and are also suffering from several key injuries.

But their misfortune is a blessing for a former Dukie. Dariq Whitehead made his second appearance of the season last night as the Nets took on the Bulls. He played 24 minutes and scored a career high 18 points on 6-10 from 3 (also had a couple steals and a block).

Dariq led the team in scoring and -- in a game where they got blown out by 26 -- posted an impressive plus-minus of -3.

Here's to hoping he gets more chances moving forward.

not only a career, high, but he scored more points in that game than he had scored in his entire career prior to that game. In fact, he scored 6x the number of points in that game than he had scored in his entire career prior to that (3). Good night for Dariq!

Initial thought: “That’s a high bar.”

Skims article.

Slightly more informed thought: “Yep. What a strange Kyrie story. Not a good sign for the Mavs.”

But think of everything they did over those five days! Did you read about the ionic foot baths?!?

What I’d really like to see are the terms of the agreement and the detailed breakdown of the $400k that is claimed to be owed.
Yeah. That was quite a line-up of services I have never heard of before!

That's so great for Dariq! Kid has really had some tough breaks over the last two years. Hope he becomes the player he was supposed to be coming out of high school. (Try not to think about how good that 2022-23 team would have been with a healthy Dariq.)

could've used that ionic foot bath when he wrecked his toe at Duke, but no....

ESPN's Shams Charania reporting that Brandon Ingram is out indefinitely for the Pelicans:

Ingram rolled his ankle when he landed on the foot of Oklahoma City's Lu Dort after attempting a jump shot. Ingram, whose elbow struck Dort in the face as he was going up for the shot, was whistled for an offensive foul.

Ingram, who leads the injury-ravaged Pelicans in scoring at 23.2 points per game, had to be helped off the floor and to the locker room. He left the Pelicans' home arena in a boot and crutches.

I state this with the upmost regret, but If I’m the Pelicans front office I’m looking to unload both Dukies at the trade deadline if I can get anything close to a reasonable return. I’m now convinced neither of Ingram or Williamson will ever play a full season or lead this team to a championship. 😔

Cannot disagree with your logic

I can cosign this idea as a fan of both players. They need a fresh start with a different org. Still a shot to reframe the narrative of their careers.

Gary Trent been on a roll lately and his 3-pt FG % now at 39.8% for the season. Seems to have righted the ship and is shooting better than Kon (Trent is my best case NBA comp for KK).
Not sure about that comp- Trent was a stud defender at Duke but had little play-making ability.

I agree with you to a degree. Just think Kon's NBA role will be "stand in corner and shoot." His playmaking has been better than anticipated, but may not translate to NBA with much quicker off guards. Hope is D will be adequate.

I know I will get some snarky "who is that?" replies from folks but Duke nation should be damn proud of what Jalen Johnson is doing on the Hawks.

Atlanta beat the Knicks tonight to advance to the semifinals of the NBA Cup. Johnson, who is making a strong case to be an All-Star as the Hawks continue to surge, was a huge reason why. He scored 21 points with 15 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. In a close game the whole way, he posted a team-leading plus/minus of +16. No one else on the Hawks was better than +10.

Yep. I was at the Hawks-Lakers game last Friday night. Despite being in foul trouble (guarding LeBron), Johnson looked like the best player on the Hawks team to me.

It was quite an entertaining game with a strong Duke connection. Quin vs JJ, with Mike Brey behind the Hawks bench. Jalen Johnson started for the Hawks and played very well, while Cam Reddish got in the game some for the Lakers. High scoring game that went to overtime. LeBron with a triple double, while Bronny sat on the bench. Very enjoyable.

Sorry, I love every other Duke guy who has ever come through the program. I can't get onboard with a guy who quit midway through his freshman year.

I'm open to changing my mind if someone can convince me. Are we actually saying that JJ is part of the brotherhood? I guess if Coack K ever welcomed him back, I'll reconsider.

Will Avery is a coach - proof that fences can be mended.

Sky... maybe I'll need a clarification as to which "JJ"???
