This Week in the ACC - 2/10-2/16

The loss to Clemson sucked. With the state of college basketball, I don’t know when Duke will ever get another chance to go 20-0. And I dislike it when another team has an advantage over Duke the way Clemson does at Littlejohn.

But it is good to have another strong team in the conference — and for Duke to get their best shot. Great teams grow from adversity. They learn to counter the strategy that beat them.

Hopefully this Duke team is a great team and gets to prove it in a rematch against Clemson in the ACC finals.

Of course, both Duke and Clemson are going to have to take care of business against the weaker conference foes to line up that rematch. Nice to see Clemson holding up its end of the bargain this evening.

Clemson firmly in command… BUT I know how we should attack them…
PRESS. They have turned it over the last 5-6 possessions against UNC’s press. It’s crazy.
But they are still up 22.

LOL, Roger Ayres stopped the game for a wet spot on the floor.

As he did, Brownell brought a full line change of bench players. Then a minute later he brought in another line change from even deeper on the bench.

Ayres is my least favorite official as I despise him. Lee Cassell is right on his heels.

UNC is clearly worse than they were early in the season. A coaching collapse by Hubert. I think there is a chance he's done.
If Duke was 14-11 and 7-6 including a 87-70 loss that was way worse than that to UNC, we would be freaking out calling for the heads of everyone.

I still think they give him one more year. One of my clients is someone extremely high up in the decision making process and one more year seems to be the consensus in that circle. They feel like canning him after what he’s accomplished would come off as short-sighted to other prospective coaches. However, this guy knows I’m a Duke fan with clients extremely high up on our end so he could be blowing smoke.

It’s just that this seems like their new normal. If we were 14-11 I’d just think we were having a bad year. Any team can have an off year. This just feels like something else. They’re not bad, exactly, just pedestrian. They’re mid.
