The longest thread ever

You do not have to be religious to appreciate the architecture and, especially, that stained glass. I was definitely brought to tears when the fire happened. The restoration work they have done is AMAZING! I want to go back now and see it with the walls all free of hundreds of years of dIrt and grime. Like being there 800 years ago.
all I can do when I see places like that, and the cathedral in Cologne (516 feet tall, construction begun in 1248) is wonder how they managed to build it and how many people died working on it. Unfathomable.

I have to come and do this here yearly because I start to get annoyed and I'm afraid I'll say something mean. On the basketball and football side I like the analysis from some folks but the moment people start discussing who should play, minutes distribution, the plays that should be run and things like that I get an eye twitch and start to mutter swear words out loud. And I come on here to say this because it's a safe space. Not one person on DBR knows. Not one single person here knows any of that. And the reason I know they don't know is because I don't know and I know more than they do. There. I got it off my chest. See you next year!

For the life of me, I cannot understand why the Duke football and basketball staffs do not take advantage of the obvious wealth of expertise of this board. And it's free, just for the taking!

And that much of it was rebuilt in similar quick fashion after sustaining significant damage during WWII bombings of Cologne.

I'm taking vacation this week and in 2 weeks. We have a no rollover policy, so kind of forced to take it. Not doing anything really, but I can see my girlfriend Wed-Fri both weeks because her daughter will be with her dad. So excited about that. Presumably more excited than the GF.
Nice. We roll over but have to take PTO between Christmas and NY. I don’t mind but it’s a big diverse company so kind of weird.

Thanks for your TED Talk.

Still waiting for the day they start real time crowd sourcing game management. Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds should be adding yearly volumes.

We are allowed to roll over as much as 240 hours annually. Anything over that is use-it-or-lose-it. I have NEVER had that problem - I TAKE my vacations! My co-worker does have this problem as she accumulated so much unused leave from a previous position where she felt she couldn't take time off. Which is ridiculous, IMO. But she is a more of a people-pleaser than I!

I submitted a resume to the MIT Shakespeare Ensemble. They are looking for a director for their spring production. It's a paid gig. Wish me luck.

(For the record, the timeline suggests that they had someone who has dropped out. It's late to be looking for a director for a show that starts rehearsal in 2 months. I happen to be experienced and free. They should totally hire me.)

I love the MIT Shakespeare Ensemble, by the way. I have seen several of their productions and every last one of them has been the MIT-iest Shakespeare you will ever see.

That sounds like a really odd mix. Hope you get the gig so you can fill us in on how tech nerds and theater types can mix.
