I still love my pencils. I used to buy the new mechanical pencils when they came out. Finally fond one that made me quit trying others. The lead doesn't break. The pencil is constructed such that it rotates the lead for even wear.Saw a great quote today:
To err is human, but when the eraser wears out ahead of the pencil, you're overdoing it. - Josh Jenkins
Which made me think, at what point in our lives do we switch from pencils to pens? Whether in your school notebooks or doing crosswords and such.
Agree. I prefer a pencil most of the time.I still love my pencils. I used to buy the new mechanical pencils when they came out. Finally fond one that made me quit trying others. The lead doesn't break. The pencil is constructed such that it rotates the lead for even wear.
Still searching on the pencil front.

I always use a pen. But then again, I AM an average white guy. No one has more confidence than me.Agree. I prefer a pencil most of the time.

Same.I can't stand mechanical pencils. Just too dainty for my fingers. Constantly breaking lead unless I would go painfully slow.
Ditto except I love 0.5mm. The only time I break the lead is if I drop it.I love, love, love mechanical pencils. I specifically use Pentel pencils with 0.7mm leads. My lead breakage is very low, but I'm careful to not advance the lead very far at any one time.
This. I prefer a fine point for all my pencils and pens.Ditto except I love 0.5mm. The only time I break the lead is if I drop it.

That’s about the same for me. Was that in a single sitting? I usually do one jigsaw puzzle per holiday weekend. But I break it into an hour or so stints across a 3 day weekend. Usually in the afternoon.I watched a video on competitive jigsaw puzzling. (Yes, it's a thing.) For the early rounds in competitions, the standard is 500 piece puzzles. I decided to see how fast I could put together a 500 piece puzzle. Answer: about 4 hours. The world champion finished the final round puzzle in 38 minutes, give or take, last year.
The Drewsk is up visiting. I asked him, as a slightly late birthday present, to do a 500 piece puzzle with me to see if the two of us were more competitive than I am alone. We put a 500 piece puzzle together in 1 hour, 12 minutes, 27 seconds. Not competitive but not bad. I told him that if it took more than 2 hours, he could quit.

As soon as I was big enough to sit up, I was doing jigsaws with my grandma. I've never timed myself but I might try next time. Is there a level of difficulty outside of size? Cause there are some tough ones out there.I watched a video on competitive jigsaw puzzling. (Yes, it's a thing.) For the early rounds in competitions, the standard is 500 piece puzzles.
