And I just used the like button for the first time.
I like the like button and love the disappearance of the “you must spread comments” cockblocker message. But I wish the software also showed the # of likes and/or the usernames of the likers. And not just for vanity reasons. The software at bigsoccer.com does this and the # of likes gives you a feel for overall agreement on the board with a statement being made. It also helps guide you to the best posts.

Cosign. The # of sporks acted like a "trusted source" for me. Easier to identify trolls when a poster had no sporks.

Those users that like a post show up at the bottom of the post.

There are six emojis associated with the "like" button that show up if you hover over "like" instead of just clicking it. Most so far just click on the "thumbs up" quickly, so that gets registered. I presume the one to the far right (angry frowning red face) is the "negative like" replacement spork.

I don't see that there's a public indication of number of likes.

If you hover over the name of the poster, you can see their Reaction Score and their Points.

It looks like the Reaction Score is the closest equivalent to Sporks, based on likes. It looks like the admins can define if the other reactions (Love, Sad, Angry, etc.) add to or decrease your Reaction Score.

Hovering over also shows you the Points, which is also listed as Trophies. It looks like that is a combination of likes and activity, so a very active troll might have high points, I think.

HEX #54ACD2 should be outlawed here.

There is an old Irish toast:

“May those that love us, love us, & for those that don't love us, may God turn their hearts, and if he can't turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we know them by their limping.”

I figure, let folks use it. I’ll know their hearts by their limp.

Turned ankles...how about broken kneecaps at least?! Full disclosure (NYBri), I had to do a search on HEX #54ACD2 but yes, it should be verboten...those schweinehund!!

Congrats JK and everyone else involved with the forum migration. As someone who worked in IT my entire adult life, I'm sure everything went as planned with no issues at all as a result of thorough planning.:sneaky:

In addition to the "Trusted Poster" vibe that checking out the sporks gave, I also liked seeing the "joined" date. Just another data point while deciding if a poster was a troll or not.

I see you can find the joined date in the web browser by hovering over a poster's name or avatar, but it was nice to see it w/o the extra click/hover.

All-in-all, I love the modernization. Will it take some time to get used to? Of course. But the positives seem to vastly outweigh the negatives. Thanks, DBR team!

Also - no issues on Firefox 126 (GNU/Linux)

All looks good to me, but one little feature I liked did not carryover…..after you read down to the last post on a thread, the old software had a ‘return to forum’ button right there. It appears now one has to scroll back to the top and click ‘Eliz King Forum’ to get back to all the posts?

That is also available at the bottom of the page. Perhaps not quite as easy as the old “up” button, but I find it far easier than scrolling back to the top.

Instead of scrolling all the way up, you can click on "forums" in the top menu. Or you can scroll allllll the way down, and click on the "Elizabeth King Forum". I liked the way you wrote about too, and it's mostly still there, except now you have to scroll past the annoying "similar threads" list. That's fine that they're similar, but they are mostly far older and fully read long ago.

I see that some threads don’t have that “similar threads” list. I vote for removing that “similar threads” list altogether from all threads…

Another mild annoyance. On the old board, we had the "reply to thread" option button at the top. Now we have to scroll through all the way to the bottom. Having that top button was very convenient.

My apologies if this has been addressed, but is there a way to make the thread titles and other default lettering a darker shade of blue?
We haven't done anything with the color palette - or much of anything else - yet. Still figuring out what we can do. But that's certainly on the list.
