nope, gaap had to make some meaningless gesture in support of Big Pat. Sure, setting all-time records is great and all, but have you considered 2 pts and 1 reb is superior to 42 points 6 rebs and 7 assists?

Revoke those voting rights

Oh, c'mon... GAAP—go sit in the corner!

I am a bit rusty from the lessons of the beloved CJ Skender at Duke (one of the best professors I had and a huge hoops fan) but I think that somewhere in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) there is a rule regarding being a "that guy" and voting completely against common sense. I believe any decent auditor would pick it up and remove the incorrect vote.

You all are forgetting something. When creating this poll, I gave everyone the option to change his or her own vote before it closes on Tuesday. If a unanimous vote is important to you, then convince @gaap to do so. Click the envelope icon on the top blue bar of this page (between your account name and the bell icon) to start a private conversation.

Aside from the Austin Rivers UNC game, which was rigged, there was a genuinely unanimous vote last season -- it was probably Kyle Filipowski, but there's an offhand chance it was Jared McCain.

Poor GAAP, 'bout to get spammed into next week.

PS, I don't ever mind a non-unanimous vote when the "others" are actually valid. Seeing Maluach with numbers would not have surprised me.
But to choose a guy with only 2 points in five minutes of play is baffling. Don't make a vote like that without at least posting your reasoning. In my head, for someone with that minimal of play and impact would have had do to something spectacular, a la Hubbard nailing a three.

Jeannette Rankin's ghost is apparently voting in MOTM polls. It's tedious to look up how I voted, but I voted for Cooper again. He needs more consistent help by March.
I was just thinking, with that many points, the rest of the team must have had a ton of assists, right? Flagg led that stat, too, with 7, and aside from Kon's 5, it wasn't even close to anybody else.

JJ Redick's name made an appearance on ESPN today. It's still too soon, but I don't want Flagg et al.'s careers to end the same way. I'm somewhat convinced it would be outside the ATL since the SEC Champ (TBD) is pretty much Sharpied into the #1 seed down there.

When someone votes for a player that did almost nothing to contribute to a win over a player that set records with his performance, they should comment as to why the other player got his or her vote. If not, delete the vote.

GoDuke!

This is more egregious than my MotM holdout a few years ago.
That was the November 25, 2022 game against Xavier where Jeremy scored 21 with 5 assists. I voted for Mark Mitchell who had 16 and 5 rebounds. Overall vote was 68-1-1, with 1 vote for Flip.

There is more voting disbursement on the front page poll (360 total votes):

Flagg - 338
Maluach - 12
Ngongba - 5
Evans - 2
Knueppel - 1
Foster - 1
Gillis - 1

Makes sense. Without Evans 6 minute effort and his 0 pts, 0 rebs, 0 assists and 0 steals Duke wouldn’t have stood a chance!
Hey now, I think we should recognize that it took Caleb 11 minutes to put up those same stats.

(He missed his first couple of threes and looked lost out there.)

MotM is subjective, so I can understand this choice. I'll admit that I don't remember the game nor the performances but I can see someone appreciating Mark's contributions over Jeremy. What I can't get my head around is how historic accomplishments aren't subjectively better for everyone.

I will do no such thing! I prefer door #3—silent ridicule!

Very sad this group could not agree on a unanimous poll.

Some nit pick and quibble;

But you will miss this kid when he's gone;

Enjoy him while you can.
