Georgia Tech game was one of the biggest emotional rollercoasters ever from start to finish

It was one of many, but it has lots of competition. The injury factor is the reason for it possibly being so high, but "game wise", the emotions were really only spent in the first half.

Zooming out, it makes me wonder if I'm too emotionally invested in this team and my sports teams in general and whether that's healthy or not.

Anyone else feel that way?
Oh man, so well said. Every UNC game my wife says to me, as I pull out my hair, "You're supposed to be enjoying this!" Of course I am, but I can only imagine what it looks like from her end every time.

Today was a game where outlier events happened again and again and again.

When Cooper was helped to the locker room and then taken away in a wheelchair, I was 90% sure his season was over. That's some high drama walking back to the bench with a slight limp. The team really responded when Cooper went down despite GT's unconscious shooting from 3.
Agreed blessed that Cooper is back on the bench and will hopefully play next week at least. I think we all lost 10 years of our lives during that game.

Same. Was texting family members “season over.” Maybe I overreacted

Well there are different customs. If he were a soccer player who had rolled an ankle, they would have carried him off in a coffin.

View attachment 19457Injuries or not, with or without our best player and second best defender, we are one helluva team. We're full of MickeyD's and all of them can play. Very well. Time to step up and win a couple of more banners!View attachment 19456

See my thread above. The only women signing are our ladies singing "We are the (ACC) champions!"

Take it from an old geezer, class of '61. I learned from the UNLV tourney games (one record loss, one unbelievable upset) that one has to play the game for a winner. Fandom, predictions, all the hype in the world doesn't matter. So relax and enjoy the spectacle of Duke 🏀. The University will always be about learning, teaching and research (and enhancing your diploma). Sports are entertainment. And the players and coaches and support staff want to win more than any fan . They make the considerable commitment! Always GO DUKE.

I don't get emotionally invested in every Duke team . This one i am . It's like baby chick's you support them one hundred percent of the time some times you get attached .
I haven't been this emotionally invested in a Duke team since Zion's team—that was because it was the first group I was able to see in person in a looong time (during the Canada tour), and because of that my wife was more into the team than she usually is.

This group has been so dang fun. They play so dang hard. They obviously care for each other so dang much. My heart absolutely dropped during the half hour around which Cooper was seen in the wheelchair—I thought this story wouldn't get a real ending. Even a heartbreaking loss in the tournament would be a better ending than not ever knowing what could've been without Cooper.

It looks like we avoided that worst case scenario, although obviously we didn't escape unscathed. But I can breathe right now, and I was holding my breath for a really long time not too long ago.
