FB: Duke 29, N.C. State 19

Do we know whether Justin Pickett is out for this game? Our offensive line was the thinnest position on the team headed into the season but have exceeded expectations. But losing a starter is never good.
Thin at OL indeed, but I don't think Sahakian is much of a dropoff, if any, from Pickett.
As for injury updates, good luck with that, those went out with mule pulled street cars in Durham.

We are going to have to play strong in the 4th quarter today as I expect a close game in Raleigh. To beat the Wolfpack we must play a full 60 minutes and finish strong.

Georgia Tech (14-0) and Miami (21-3) slapped us around in the 4th quarter so reversing this conference road game trend is a must to secure win number seven.

State plays a freshman quarterback so I expect our defense will run blitz heavy schemes in an attempt to force mistakes. My thoughts and $6.75 will get you a small coffee at Starbucks.

On offense, I’m hopeful we can achieve some success in the run game and throw the ball downfield. State is ranked 89/133 giving up 233 yards passing per game and 74/133 giving up 152 yards rushing per game. Balance is always the key on offense.

Let’s Go Duke!

I dunno. I know it's supposed to be slimming and all, but I just don't understand this generation's infatuation with black. We ain't Johnny Cash and this ain't no funeral.
Go Duke!
I don’t love black for Duke, I just thought the helmet in general looked good. I’m definitely more of a traditionalist blue/white guy.

I feel the same about State and this game. State fans feel like this is a very disappointing season. Closing with wins over Duke and UNC would make us feel a bit better.
Understood. Please put a W in the column though for the game against The Team Whose Name Shall Not Be Spoken.

Our D was great, holding them to zero touchdowns (Grimes was clearly OB on that touchdown catch, IMO), but needs to avoid those cheap penalties next week against Poly. Murphy showed great touch on a handful of throws and a bit more toughness on the ground. Moore is turning into a potential high draft pick as a converted WR. Incredible.

Other than dealing with parking, that was a fun jaunt. 80% of State fans are good people if they let me treat them nicely. Then there was the State fan who spent the first 3 quarters talking smack to my armpit. (He wasn't tall enough to reach my ear, and I can inspire a spontaneous chorus of Ding! Dong! The Witch is Dead! in person. It's too bad Ryan Young didn't make it from Cameron last night so his words could have gone to an appropriate orifice.)

I didn't have anything on that game on my bingo card: safety, Murphy with a positive yardage run, an appearance by Loftis, dogs fetching the kickoff tee, the bunny fumble crew for the 3rd time this year. One note for Duke fans-- Duke has won at Carter-Finley twice from 1985-present. It is not Our House. Duke has won 4/5 against State in football, which isn't going to sink in thanks to expansion.

I’m sure there are exceptions but I have always got along well with State folks. Mostly good people.

Amazing how much depth Manny and his staff have created. Several young players had good games today. The offensive line doesn’t run block well but does a good job of protecting Murphy. Murphy is getting better every game and looks like the best pure passer we have had since maybe Ben Bennett.

This is perplexing for me (obviously not a "technical" football fan). The OL is apparently very good at blocking/protecting Murphy in pass plays. But then appears to be woeful in run blocking. I know I'm missing something  Is it coaching, scheming, etc????
