Guess he ran his own race, to paraphrase someone.Who would've thought that Allen would've ended up being the best and most well paid out of the 4 from that class.

When you trip you have to get back up!Guess he ran his own race, to paraphrase someone.
He’s the only one of them that stayed and graduated. That proves the value of a Duke degree!Who would've thought that Allen would've ended up being the best and most well paid out of the 4 from that class.
Allen has made/ will make the most $, but I think a good argument can be made for Tyus being the best player. Not a knock on Allen who has become an outstanding shooter, but Tyus is a really good PG.Who would've thought that Allen would've ended up being the best and most well paid out of the 4 from that class.
Yeah, they are very close. Also Winslow had the inside track before all the injuries took their toll.Allen has made/ will make the most $, but I think a good argument can be made for Tyus being the best player. it's hard to argue against best-paid, but i would argue that the fact that Tyus has set records (or at least within the "modern" range) for assist:turnover, and holds all of the best single-season a:to marks during that time, demonstrating that he is right there at the top of the list for PGs in the NBA, might mean that the argument for who was the best in that class is not as clear as you posit. Grayson is a fine shooter, and led the NBA in 3FG% this year, but is a 4th or 5th option on offense on his team.Who would've thought that Allen would've ended up being the best and most well paid out of the 4 from that class.
Winslow was a potential all-star before his injuries. Sadly much of his explosiveness and athleticism has diminished but there was a time I would have put him in the “Dukies in the NBA” starting lineup, and probably at PG.Yeah, they are very close. Also Winslow had the inside track before all the injuries took their toll.
or you can stay down and just stare at the ceiling for an hour or three. When you trip you have to get back up!
Or something.
I can see the argument for either. Both are pretty elite role players for what they do. Allen his shooting while being an average to poor defender while Tyus is a great facilitator but a poor defender because of his size.it's hard to argue against best-paid, but i would argue that the fact that Tyus has set records (or at least within the "modern" range) for assist:turnover, and holds all of the best single-season a:to marks during that time, demonstrating that he is right there at the top of the list for PGs in the NBA, might mean that the argument for who was the best in that class is not as clear as you posit. Allen a poor defender? Neither the Suns nor stats think so. 82nd, 98th and 91st percentiles in various adv metrics. And he gets bonus points from teammates for being scrappy.I can see the argument for either. Both are pretty elite role players for what they do. Hubie Brown last year said that Grayson was an “underrated defender”.Allen a poor defender? Neither the Suns nor stats think so. 82nd, 98th and 91st percentiles in various adv metrics. And he gets bonus points from teammates for being scrappy.
Hubie Brown still being relevant at the age of 90 is un-freaking-believable!Hubie Brown last year said that Grayson was an “underrated defender”.
I watched a decent number of Suns games last year and while I did see Grayson get beat a lot on D, he was very often assigned to guard the opponents best wing player, so the team at least thinks he’s their best option on D.Allen a poor defender? I went to his basketball camp as a middle schooler. Mike Freatello, later Hawks coach, was his junior guy running the camp.Hubie Brown still being relevant at the age of 90 is un-freaking-believable!
Hubie Brown was a guest instructor at a Basketball Camp that I attended in high school. I believe he was an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks at the time. Brown was teaching the campers how to play defense and one of his methods was to never yield to a screen. He said we should run the man over and he will not set that screen the next time. It seemed pretty crazy to me at the time and my high school coach would never allow such a tactic.I went to his basketball camp as a middle schooler. Great video on the front page about Kyrie. Doesn’t change my reaction to some of his odder comments but certainly humanizes him.
