2025 Men's Basketball Recruiting

What is going on in South Bend? Their football team loses at home to Northern Illinois, so now they're a basketball school?

Head coach Micah Shrewsberry has received 4 commitments from the 2025 class in the past 7 days.

9/23: Brady Koehler (6-9 PF, #90 RSCI, #92 On3)
9/25: Jalen Haralson (6-6 SF, #9 RSCI, #13 On3)
9/27: Ryder Frost (6-6 SF, #83 On3)
9/30: Tommy Ahneman (6-11 C, #170 On3)

Jamie Shaw of On3 has a pretty good (and free) article about these developments.

While this class might not make ripples across the national landscape or feature multiple sure-fire NBA prospects, it is one of those classes that we could look back on in a few years as a building block for sustained future success...

"Huh," I said to myself. "Sounds like The Class That Saved Coach K." Then I kept reading.

As you take a look across college basketball’s current landscape and see the tenured and successful coaches, many times you can look back at one class that changed their trajectory of success.
...For Mike Krzyzewski, it was his 1982 recruiting class that featured Mark Alarie, Johnny Dawkins, Jay Bilas, and David Henderson. While these programs had seen previous success, it was these classes that springboarded these coaches to new and sustained heights.

Yeah, but that class stayed 4 years, as did the following ones for us. Sadly, that sort of thing doesn't happen anymore if these really are NBA potential (and that's all they need to leave now) talent Shrewsbury is bringing in. Still, a good haul so far for ND.

08. Nate Ament (6-8 SF): Duke offer
26. Shelton Henderson (6-6 SF): Duke offer, AND 6 finalists are Duke, Houston, Louisville, LSU, Texas, and Texas Tech
36. Acaden Lewis (6-3 PG): Duke offer, AND 4 finalists are Connecticut, Duke, Kentucky, and UNC

Joe Tipton reports that Acaden Lewis will be in attendance for Friday's Countdown to Craziness as part of his official visit to Duke.

The 6-foot-3 four-star senior out of Sidwell Friends (D.C.) is considering Duke along with UConn and Kentucky.

Lewis was originally set to visit North Carolina this weekend, however, the Tar Heels’ recently landed another point guard in four-star Derek Dixon. Lewis will no longer visit UNC and instead will make a trip to see the Brotherhood.

It was previously reported that Nate Ament (unofficial visit) and Shelton Henderson (official visit) will also be in Durham on Friday.

Lewis was at Duke over the summer for an unofficial visit. Now he's back on campus for an official visit just 8 weeks later.

Is CTC being broadcast on ACCN, or do I only have a streaming option?

I really wish the Boozers would come on down. I did not realize that Cam is as good a shooter as he is. 80s FT %. 40ish 3PT %. He was the EYBL MVP with 24ppg, 13rpg, 4apg.

They polled a bunch of college coaches there and more thought Dybansta would be a better pro, but more thought Cam would be better in his one year of college. It will be hard watching him at Miami if that's the route he goes.

Boozer, Boozer, Lewis, Henderson/Aristode. That would be a great 4-man class.

I do wonder if the NIL is extra challenging with the Boozer twins if they're a package deal since you'll have one for a year and one for hopefully 3-4 years.

I hope NIL is not a determining factor of the Boozers. I believe there are other schools who will outbid Duke if that is what the Boozers want the most.

I hope Jon and Duke never get into a bidding war with anybody. It isn't worth it to me. I have noticed Hurley has lost 3 recruits because he won't go that route which is what I would do in his position. Miami isn't guaranteed to be a tourney team so if a few hundred thousand is worth more than playing in the big dance then it was probably never meant to be.

I hope their agent is working out the final details with our collective now. 🤞

We can still have a great season next year without Cam Boozer, but I think with him we will have the chance to run out a team just as talented and exciting as this year. Cam seems similar to Cooper as the kind of player who makes everyone around him better.

I'm pretty sure we backed out of the bidding war for Dybansta when his camp publicly announced that bids start at $3M. But there's a fine line between a bidding war and paying full market value.

I was gonna mention that in that post. I would be stunned if he got that much. I guess it depends what the budget is but giving one guy that isn't smart to me. I think he is going to BYU and they are in the Big 12 now. One guy isn't carrying them to 23-24 wins in that conference to get into the dance.

Here's what's smart about it that some of the UNC fans are pointing out. A guy that good who is almost a lock to be a perennial NBA All Star will pay dividends for years to come.

It's like Man Man recently said. His friends back home don't know Duke. But they understand when he says it's the school Zion Williamson went to.

UNC and BYU don't have any NBA stars to point to today.

True, Duke has more players to refer to in the NBA than unc. But with the new landscape of college bb snd NIL, there is really no sure fire way to point to how these young guys are going to make up their minds anymore. Different times.

Saw where Acaden Lewis has us in his top three along with Kentucky and UConn. Now, we just need the Boozer boys to come on down!

Was that Bobby or Danny. I'm thinking Danny but I could be wrong. I bet both Hurley brothers feel the same way.

GoDuke!

There was an On3 article about the Boozers stating it's a "2 team race" and a decision timeframe. But I don't have access. Can anyone summarize?

I assume it will say "Duke and Miami" and decision in a few weeks.

I mean BYU was in the Big 12 last year and ended the year with 23 wins, a 5-seed in the tournament, and a pretty good recruiting class this year (third best in the Big 12 per 247). Major turnover with Pope leaving, but it's not like he'd be suiting up for Longwood or whatever. BYU's pretty good.

I listed to recruiting beat journalist, Travis Branham, from 247 on the Devil's Den pod and he said Florida is fading and its Miami and Duke but that it is an airtight info bubble and very hard to read which may they may be leaning...but that everyone assumes they will go together and announce a decision within a few weeks.

Danny. They were in the drivers seat with Kobe Brea, Maleek Thomas and to an entent Braylon Mullins. Mullins still might go there but Indiana may open up the check book.
