2025 Men's Basketball Recruiting

AJ Dybansta was in Chapel Hill this weekend. And in other news, the NCAA just granted Armando Bacot a 9th year of eligibility since UNC failed to find a center in the portal this summer...

I am sure it is a trick of perspective, but Dybantsa looks taller than Bacot in that image.

He is listed at 6-8 and Armando is supposedly 6-11. I never believed Bacot was 6-11.

I would guess they are both 6-9. The Cheat fans this summer said they didn't have the NIL $ for a top-shelf Center transfer. But bidding for Dybansta supposedly starts at $3M. Interesting days...

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but Mika Muurinen, the #6 player in the 2026 class, is visiting Duke this weekend. He is considering a reclass to 2025. Arkansas, Michigan and Utah are all in the mix as well. 6-10 PF. Some videos are tagging him as "the Finnish Cooper Flagg".

Too bad we’ll never see Cooper Flagg finish next to the Finnish Cooper Flagg.

I hope he doesn't reclass even though he should based on his age.

09. Jalen Haralson (6-6 SF): Duke offer, AND 9 finalists are Auburn, Duke, Gonzaga, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, and Purdue
21. Dwayne Aristode (6-7 SF):

Jalen Haralson says he will decide later today (Wednesday at 7pm ET) between Indiana, Michigan State, and Notre Dame. I hadn't realized the Irish NIL Collective had magical pots o' gold at their disposal:

247 Sports is livestreaming.

Meanwhile, Dwayne Aristode included Duke as one of his 5 finalists, according to Joe Tipton. The others are Arizona, Michigan State, USC, and the NBL Next Level Stars program in Australia.

I guess this officially means he does have a Duke offer.

ACC member SMU just got its first recruit of the 2025 class... and he has a familiar name.

Jermaine O'Neal Jr (son of the former NBA player) has committed to the Mustangs. JONJr is a 4-star 6-5 SF who had offers from Arkansas, Tennessee, Mizzu, Vandy, Az St, and a slew of other P5 programs. He's ranked in the top 150 or so in the class...

JONJr is AAU teammates with big man Jaden Toombs. Toombs is ranked in the top 50 in the class and would be a big deal for a program like SMU. He's 6-10, 245 and the #7 center in the class. He has a visit to SMU this weekend and says he will make his final decision in about a week.

You called it. Joe Tipton reports that Jaden Toombs (RSCI #43) committed to SMU.

The other finalists were Alabama, Miami, Texas Tech, and Vanderbilt.

Rest of college basketball focused on transfers, ACC schools spending on freshmen. SMU and Notre Dame don't usually fish in these waters. Good for both of those programs and a big talent influx to what are ordinarily not major contenders in the ACC.

If SMU alumns are ready to spend, that program could really rocket up with Andy Enfield in the head coaching gig and the cache of the ACC backing them. Enfield is smart and I bet he got some NIL assurances prior to taking the job. I won't be even mildly surprised if SMU is comfortably in the top third of the league very soon.

Good day for the ACC.

Two players outside the RSCI top 50 are declaring today, and both are predicted to pick ACC teams.

Derek Dixon is a 6-3 combo guard (RSCI #57, On3 #48) who will make his choice at 3pm ET today (livestream). His finalists are Pittsburgh, UNC, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.

Ryder Frost is a 6-6 small forward (RSCI not ranked, On3 #88) who will announce at 4pm ET (livestream). He will choose from Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin.

Trilly Donovan posted not-so-cryptic GIFs of the UNC ram mascot here and the Notre Dame leprechauns here, indicating his rarely wrong predictions.

Derek Dixon chooses UNC. RSCI #57 CG.

Bright spot. Maybe this takes them out of the running for the higher ranked CG, Acaden Lewis, who seems like a great fit for Duke?

08. Nate Ament (6-9 SF): Duke offer
21. Dwayne Aristode (6-7 SF): Duke offer AND 5 finalists are Arizona, Duke, Michigan State, USC, and NBL Australia.

Earlier today Jamie Shaw of On3 offered some information on both Nate Ament and Dwayne Aristode.

The article is behind a paywall, but Shaw mentions Countdown to Craziness, which puts Ament in Durham on October 4.

Also a paywall, but based on this response from Spartan Avenue, we can tell that Duke is one of the two schools, and Michigan State is not the other.

The coaching staff has had success with "doubling up" in each recruiting class.

2022: Lively and Filipowski
2023: McCain and Foster
2024: Knueppel and Evans

Will 2025 include a pair of big wings in Ament and Aristode? With Flagg, James, Gillis, and maybe one or both of Kon and Evans leaving next spring, adding a pair of wings would make sense.

I've also heard mention we are the favorite for Shelton Henderson, another big wing at 6-6 220. #15 recruit on 247.

Recent vagueness about Cameron and Cayden Boozer from Travis Branham and Trilly Donovan. (The latter's "Boozer gif" comment means that a prediction may be imminent.)

On the recruiting front, the Boozers have complete three unofficial visits to Duke, Florida and Miami in the last month and Cayden told 247Sports that they're still considering all three schools.
