I think one of the problems/objections with Maui (and similar MTEs) is that it takes 3 non-Cameron spots out of 5. 1 goes to the KS/KY/MSU event, 1 is going to NYC regardless of popular opinion, and Duke is not going to play more A/N games than Cameron games in the non-conference. Duke is not a midmajor yet. The only way Maui works is if Duke has a home game v. the SEC team and has no other non-conference road games. With the KS series, Duke has pretty much answered your question--not anytime soon.

Duke also makes more money by staging their own tournament (technically, the Kansas game is a tournament this year) than they do by going to Maui.

I've never been a fan of Duke going to Maui. Main issue... the distance/travel time. I would much prefer something on the East coast... West coast at the farthest. Maui is another 6 hour flight each way from the West coast itself.

Matt Norlander reported on the CBS Eye on College Bball pod Duke preview that one of the exhibitions will be ASU with a related Bobby Hurley tribute/recognition.

I think Duke may have a verrrry interesting exhibition game this year. I'll let the team announce it but when you hear about it, folks are gonna go "Whoa!! I want to see _____ back in Cameron."
Freaking Norlander. Donald and I could have leaked this more than a month ago but wanted to let the team make the announcement.

Now that the opponent has leaked, can you leak the date and whether this will be part of the season ticket?
I am fairly sure it will be Oct 26th... I have a wedding that day that I am attending otherwise I would come up for the game for sure!

No idea about the ticketing situation. It is a charity game so they may be doing something separate from the usual ticketing.

I'm sorry that Norlander scooped you but I appreciate your professionalism (and that of Donald as well) in wanting to let the team make the announcement. Please feel free to leak ticket information if you do discover it because I 1,000 percent need to attend this! Bobby Hurley is still may favorite Duke player ever and to see him do something inside Cameron would be a dream for me!

Not excited about him technically being the "enemy" as the opposing coach but I'll handle it better as an exhibition game (with a big tribute to him) versus a game that counts. LOL!

Great that Duke would give Hurley his due. He had an incredible career at Duke.
Agreed. FWIW, I just checked basketball-reference.com expecting to see that Bobby's NCAA career assist record had been surpassed by somebody with an extra year of COVID eligibility. To my surprise, it seems that Bobby's record is likely to withstand the extra COVID year era.

As far as I can tell, Dejuan Harris from Kansas is the active leader in career assists. However, Harris still needs more than 400 assists this year to pass Bobby and his career best is 224.

Hurley's record dodged a bullet when Yuri Collins from Saint Louis declined to use his extra COVID year of eligibility. Collins was 199 assists behind Hurley and was coming off a season where he dished out 324 assists.

That's pretty remarkable his record is holding up against the 5-year guys. One of Duke's all time greats.

In the words of Dana Carvey doing the late John McLaughlin: Wrong! :) It's the next day (Sunday night) at 6:30. Duke just sent me an Iron Duke email confirming it.
Wow... did not expect that.

Email from Duke SID just dropped --
Ticket information for the Brotherhood Run charity exhibition game benefiting Duke Children's Hospital will be announced at a later date. Tickets for this charity event are not part of the Duke men's basketball season ticket package.

GoDuke posted the news about half an hour ago:

Brotherhood Run 2024 - Duke vs Arizona State Charity Exhibition Game

"We are excited about the Brotherhood Run, playing Arizona State for a charity exhibition game. This is the first time we've done something like this," said Scheyer. "Duke Children's Hospital has been a great partner to our program for a long time, starting with Coach K, and to keep that relationship going means a lot to me and to our program. We couldn't be more excited to partner with them to raise funds and awareness for all the incredible work they are doing."

It's hard for me to imagine a reason for doing it at 6:30 other than to get it on TV.
