2024-2025 Men’s Basketball Season General Discussion

So is Rutgers any good or ND that bad? Hard to tell, give it 4 weeks and we'll know something.

Clemson had maybe the 4th best victory of the year for the acc after dukes win over zona and unc's win over memphis and Berkleys win over USC. ACC has mostly failed to win important OCC games so far. Big games this week and I am a bit psyched that Thanksgiving enforces a few days off and I'll see some bball that I'd normally miss due to being in the forests or doing reports.

UNC beat Memphis in a preseason exhibition game. I guess it looks good now -- Memphis is #27 by KenPom -- but it still doesn't count. Their regular season wins are against #167 Elon, #241 American, #187 Hawaii, and #35 Dayton.

You are correct about Clemson, though.

Highest rated opponents to lose to an ACC team:

#24 Arizona (to Duke)
#32 Michigan (to Wake Forest)
#35 Dayton (to UNC)
#37 Penn State (to Clemson)
#48 Boise State (to Boston College)
#53 LSU (to Pittsburgh)
#59 San Francisco (to Clemson)
#63 Villanova (to Virginia)
#71 West Virginia (to Pittsburgh)
#84 USC (to California)

I forgot about michigan to Wake. That is a decent win. I also forgot the memphis win was pre season.

Still...it is a very weak resume so far. Not a single top 20 win.

The ACC still has some opportunities left in their known non-conference schedule:

#1 Auburn (at Duke 12/4)
#4 Tennessee (hosts Syracuse 12/3, vs. Miami in New York City 12/10)
#6 Alabama (at UNC 12/4)
#7 Kansas (hosts NC State 12/14)
#12 Kentucky (at Clemson 12/3, hosts Louisville 12/14)
#14 Purdue (vs. NC State in San Diego 11/28)
#16 Ohio State (hosts Pittsburgh 11/29)
#18 Florida (vs. Wake Forest in Orlando 11/28, hosts Virginia 12/4, vs. UNC in Charlotte 12/17)
#19 UCLA (vs. UNC in New York City 12/21)

#21 Illinois (vs. Duke in New York City 2/22)
#25 Texas A&M (hosts Wake Forest 12/3)
#26 Mississippi State (hosts Pittsburgh 12/4)
#27 Memphis (at Clemson 12/14, at Virginia 12/18)
#28 Oregon (vs. Stanford in San Jose 12/21)
#31 Texas (at NC State 12/4)
#33 Maryland (vs. Syracuse in Brooklyn 12/21)
#36 Arkansas (at Miami 12/3)
#38 Indiana (vs Louisville in Bahamas 11/27)
#46 Oklahoma (hosts Georgia Tech 12/3)
#50 Ole Miss (at Louisville 12/3)

At the risk of drawing a lot of ire from all my friends here… Michigan’s Danny Wolf, the 7-foot junior transfer from Yale, is playing like the type of player we were all expecting Flip to evolve into last year. After struggling his last couple contests he is absolutely shredding Xavier right now. Dusty May could have the Big Ten dark horse in his first year in Ann Arbor.
