This Week in the ACC - 11/25-12/1

Louisville’s big win over Indiana is a nice boost to the conference resume. Our first ACC contest of the season at Louisville could very well be a Q1 opportunity.
Huge win for Louisville, even if Indiana was overrated. Former Duke commit Mgbako had 8 points in 29 minutes for the Hoosiers.

Louisville followed up the Indiana victory with a win over West Virginia. The Cards now play Oklahoma later today for the Battle for Atlantis title. The Atlantis is one of the better holiday MTEs and a win would likely put Louisville into the top 25.

Very early but 5 ACC teams -- Duke, Pitt, UNC, Lou, and Clemson -- are putting themselves in a good place to get a NCAA tourney bid. The rest of the league... not so much.

Wake Forest might make the tourney. Beat Minnesota today; hardly a big win, but they can’t afford to lose that one. They need (1) Efton Reid to play much better, and (2) to get Biliew back by late January, when they have home games v. UNC, Duke, and Pitt, and @ UL.

Last year when the first NET rankings came out in very early December (so coming up!), there were 4 ACC teams in the Top 37. Right now there are 5 ACC teams in KenPom’s top 38. That data point, amongst others, tells me that the ACC will end up being better in the most important metrics this season than it has been in these last few down years. We’ll have to see if that holds, of course, but there’s reason to believe there’ll be more opportunities for us in conference play this year.

that's an oddly specific number....

Haha not oddly, but specifically where there’s a gap… but also gives a sense of teams with a chance to be NET Top 30. 🤷‍♂️
that's logical.

I'm just skeptical of binning especially on non-round numbers as there's as apt to conceal the overall distribution as anything. It's a "hey...how dare someone try to use my own scam on me!"

Put another way, the hurricane season officially ended today, both in a climatological sense and a basketball sense.
