Not a ton to write home about for the week beside Duke's win in Tucson. Miami had a disaster of a week in Charleston, Pitt put up a valiant fight but couldn't get it done against Wisconsin, and Virginia and Syracuse, well, did not do well in their tourneys. More Feast Week on the docket for the coming week and more opportunities for valuable non-conference wins (which so far have been fewer and far between).

Chapel Hill vs Dayton tonight may be a good game. Steve Smith called the Chapel Hill/Boston College football game and said "chapel hill" for instead of "University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill" This seems to irritate Chapel Hill fans which I find amusing so I will continue Smiths good work.

Monday

"Chapel Hill" is definitely on the tougher side of this Maui bracket. No matter what, though, it's three legitimately challenging games in three days. Too bad we can't add a poll, and I'm not starting a Chapel Hill thread unless we're playing them.

Fake Poll: How will Chapel Hill fare in the Maui Invitational?

🔲 0-3: Wipeout!
🔲 1-2: Brady Bunch tiki curse!
🔲 2-1: RJ Davis doubles his NIL income from Big Pineapple.
🔲 3-0: Hawaii secedes from the union.

Awesome information. Thanks!

In addition to Carolina's come from behind win over Dayton, the rest of the ACC had a "meh" day yesterday.

Best win of the day comes from Clemson, beating a fairly good (KP #68) San Francisco team by 15, 70-55. SF actually led this one by 5 early in the second half but the Tigers went on 25-4 run to break it open. Clemson is up to 31 in KenPom and seems like it may be the team most likely to join Duke, UNC, and Pitt as double-bye candidates.

Michigan pulled away late to beat Va Tech 75-63. It looked for a while like the Hokies might stage a big upset but VT went scoreless for about 3 minutes in the middle of the second half and that was it for them. The Vegas line was -11.5 so this was about what was expected from a lower-tier ACC team.

Meanwhile, BC avoided another bad loss for the ACC by beating Missouri State by 2 in OT. In reality, BC is bad enough (KP #119) that playing a close, overtime game with a decent mid-major like Mizzu St (KP #152) isn't so awful. Of course, if BC wants to be a top 100 or better kinda team, as even lower tier ACC teams should aspire, then this is a poor result.

9 ACC games on the sked today including huge matchups for the top of the conference. In addition to Duke/KU and UNC/Auburn, Clemson faces KenPom #32 Penn State in a game that is a total tossup. This is the kind of game that is likely to get a long look from the committee when seeding or deciding bubble status is March. By the way, Christian Reeves is a rotation player for Clemson. He appears to be their 8th man and is getting like 5-8 minutes in even competitive games.

Is true. They can also lose to anyone, and i don't think they have a real chance against Auburn.
I’m not as sold on Auburn against a team that can really score unless the refs allow it to play its super physical style. Since this is UNC we are taking about I’m assuming Auburn is in serious foul trouble…

we shall see. they were the #6 defense in the coutry last year....and twice held bama to respectible totals.

So long as baker-mazara doesn't punch anyone out...they have a "fighting" chance.

Gotta hope Broome doesn't have cramp issues. He had them late against Iowa State. He's gonna get his vs UNC if he can stay in the game.
Yeah, Broome just went for 21 and 10 against one of the best defenses in the country (top 5 per KenPom). Who on UNC will/can match up with him?

Louisville’s big win over Indiana is a nice boost to the conference resume. Our first ACC contest of the season at Louisville could very well be a Q1 opportunity.
