The longest thread ever

Our oven is now not working - think it is the pilot light but not sure. They were supposed to come a few weeks ago - cancelled day of. Rescheduled for tomorrow. My wife called this morning to confirm and they cancelled again. Fortunately we were not hosting for the holidays and were away part of the time as having a non-functioning stove is not ideal. So we are very unhappy with them right now. Especially because we paid a lot for their appliances.
I have a 36" gas Viking stove, which I love. The one big flaw with it is that the igniters don't last a long time. Two in the oven and one under the griddle. Fortunately, they are an easy inexpensive fix. It's a $19 part and it takes me about ten minutes to replace one.

Ordered lunch at the work Cafeteria today, turkey w/gravy, rice pilaf, and broccoli. Get down there to pick up my order and no broccoli left(they had mixed vegetables) and no gravy.

And suddenly, I think I need to give @ClemmonsDevil more credit than I have in the past.

Gravy can be used to cover up a lot of sins in the kitchen.
Not if someone has bad gravy technique. To me the gravy is actually harder to make well than a lot of other things. So if your gravy is good at covering up sins, then I think you didn’t really have an excuse to screw up all the other stuff.

At the institution cafeteria level, there is premade or instant gravy available, that while generally inferior, can help bad institutional food.
