The longest thread ever

And now we learn that there was a staffing shortage at the tower, which was 1. substantial, and 2. sustained. I shall refrain from further commentary lest I stray into the political.
Well as jk mentioned a couple of years ago, Reagan is extremely busy and has an unusual amount of direct flights because of politics...more specifically because of politicians. Every Rep and Senator wants a direct flight home. That AA route was just added a year ago.

I was guessing that was the case. There's not really a good reason for there to be a direct flight from Wichita to Reagan airport.
Back in the 90s I flew in and out of there a decent amount and noticed that phenomenon. Part of the reason I would go through there was to get flights to Ottawa, which I'm sure were available because of government traffic.

I am guessing the flight was added due to the US Nationals happening in Wichita.

Probably some routes for lobbyists too.

POS snow shovel breaks doing essentially nothing. Engineered the way they want them. This time the flimsy plastic handle broke. Usually it's the dinky-butt sleeve that "holds" the shaft to the blade ....heads are going to roll.

Despite support for community water fluoridation from the American Dental Association, the American Medical Association, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (bunch of pointy-headed intellectuals), my City Commission has voted unanimously to remove fluoride from our system. In 2017, it was voted down 4-1. That one vote is now on the County Council and said "My hope now is that other communities...will follow the lead and stop medicating and/or poisoning their residents with the water". I'm confident he will be in Tallahassee soon.

Two of the safety concerns they listed were the "reduction of IQ" and "cognitive impairment". That follows, they've been drinking this water for years and so have their voters.

This is the next chapter of "post facts" civilization, and I don't like it one bit.

Murderous Vegans

"Two young people who applied in November for a marriage license in Washington have each been charged by authorities in separate January killings that claimed the lives of a Border Patrol agent in Vermont and an 82-year-old landlord in Vallejo, according to police and court records obtained by Open Vallejo."

No info why anyone was in Vermont, but then there never is, is there?
soaking up the warm weather perhaps? (sunny now, 5 degrees, wind chill of -13)...we used to say this keeps out the riff raff, but now we have the Zizians..who are now also tied to a double murder in Pennsylvania, seems that a colleague may have killed her own parents: https://vtdigger.org/2025/01/28/fed...est-to-vermont-border-patrol-agents-shooting/

scroll past the ads...it gets weirder every day...

Hunting Ben and/or Jerry? Maybe hunting Trey? It is difficult to plumb the mind of a pair of rampaging killer vegans.

(Speaking of rampaging, I picked up watching Archer again after a multi-year pause. In the 11th season now. Love that show.)

Trey used to live near me, I'd just as soon the Killer Vegans keep their distance...
