The History of The Pie

For the record, I lost my pie bet with Jason Evans. I stated (with a degree of confidence and authority) that the fallout of FSU missing the playoffs as an undefeated team would lead to some number of members of the ACC announcing specific plans to leave the conference before kickoff of this season (in about four minutes).

I was wrong.

I will post a picture of the pie when I get it. We have settled upon a local pie shop called Buttermilk Sky and I will be getting either a peach or a blueberry.

Re the last 4 posts in this thread: Well MtnDevil, ya win some, ya lose some. Just curious (since I'm not a gambler and if you don't mind sharing), what is your record?

Anyone else want to brag or lament on their pie record?

Isn't FSU and Clemson both suing the ACC to leave the conference , strike down the grant of rights, and avoid the high exit fee not announcing their plans to leave the conference? They will both be gone from the ACC, and it's just a matter of time as these lawsuits get settled.

I didn't see the terms of your bet, so I trust you that you lost based on those terms.

On my one and only pie bet years ago, we agreed that in lieu of an actual pie the non-winner would donate the cost of the pie to their local food bank. I offer that suggestion to those who may find that a higher use of the funds.

As much as I enjoy a nice pie, the same money can feed a dozen less-fortunate folks with real sustenance.

Reported for suggesting pie isn't real sustenance.

You sir, have my respect and admiration; it takes a big man to admit he lost a pie bet. :)

Our bet was that FSU had to announce their intent to leave the conference and I think we even said there had to be a destination in mind and a date for their departure. The bottom line is that suing to get out isn't nearly enough to win the wager.

My record in pie bets is now 5-0. As I have said many times, I never make a pie bet unless I am dead certain I am going to win. Put another way, if Jason Evans wants to make a pie bet with you, you really need to rethink your position ;)

I’m still waiting for the pie I won when Marquis Bolden made it to the NBA.

I console myself that I don’t need pie unless it’s Christmas or Thanksgiving — and the deadbeat who won’t pay up seems not to want to participate on the boards anymore.

I wonder if that welching got him banned. Few people worse than welchers. Heck, they even allow Tarheels to participate around here.

Yep. I, and several other DBR folk, had a pie bet with a well-known poster over the outcome of the 2020 election. He lost, refused to pay, and was shown the exit by the mods. Maybe the same person. Maybe not.

I've never made a pie bet... I am not sure if I even like pie... but I am interested in where you'd place a pie bet for K2's over/under PPG during the ACC conference season?

Flipping back through this thread history reminded me of the pie bet that I lost to pfrduke five years ago - if I recall the details correctly, I bet that Nassir Little wouldn't get drafted in the first round. I made the bet before the season started, when he was a top 3 player out of high school. He ended up going #25 so it was a close one.

Also, I miss Wheat.
