The big Bill Belichick & UNC football catch-all thread

Given the age of Belichick's girlfriend, I've been chuckling all day at the idea of Belichick walking UNC's campus next to the UNC AD, checking out the students heading to class while paraphrasing Matthew McConaughey: "That's what I love about these college girls, man. I get older; they stay the same age."

That name of the BOT chair rang a bell but I had to drag out my old HS yearbook to check and...yep, that guy used to ride the same school bus as I did. He struck me as an arrogant jerk back then so of COURSE it makes total sense that he's head of BOT on Cheater Hill. I Googled him to make sure I had the right guy and the article I found said he graduated from UNC in 1990; I graduated Duke in '89 and he was a year AHEAD of me in high school so...umm...yeah. Please, PLEASE hire Bill B. to be your next coach! Keep pushing ahead on that front, John!
That time difference in your progression speaks volumes about the unCheat board. Maybe he got his course assignments from Bill Guthridge.

I love this quote. (Added the bold)

For a program awash in apathy and mediocrity, this marks a distinct and compelling shift from Mack Brown, as Belichick gives the Tar Heels an unprecedented jolt of star power for 2025 and beyond.

I figured the only way BB would end up at UNC is if UNC is throwing out a lot of money all over the place, and figured NIL would be a huge part of it to buy them some players. Feels like a move by UNC to try to set themselves up for the next phase of realignment. Might work, might not, but it feels like the major powers will continue to outspend UNC even at that level.

I'm guessing UNC is counting on BB opening the wallets of NIL sponsors and wealthy boosters. Dunno whether it will work.

I know everyone here is just dumping all over this, but have ya'll considered that maybe... maybe... hiring one of the biggest coaching names in football history and a dude with a track record as good as any coach in the NFL could actually work out for Carolina?

It might work, but I think there is a culture clash ahead that neither side realizes is coming.

That's a HUGE jump. I wonder where they'll get the money from. Higher ticket prices for sure. I know that Carolina has had some high profile campaigns before to raise NIL money, if those only brought in $4M, where do they think they are going to scrounge up another 16 from?
But NIL is supposed to be provided by third parties, right? How would higher ticket prices help with that?
