Cooper Flagg reel...
The
Duke portion of the press conference with Jon Scheyer, Tyrese Proctor, and Cooper Flagg... (GoDuke has the
NCAA transcript.)
Coach Scheyer:
"I thought it was a workmanlike performance by our team. Any time you only have two turnovers in a game, that's pretty good. I just thought that these guys were incredibly mature without necessarily even playing in the NCAA Tournament, besides Tyrese [Proctor] and Mason [Gillis]. Proud of the performance. We have to move on very quickly, but really good to get our feet wet and understand what the tournament is all about."
"Obviously I love Jeremy [Roach]. I've been through -- I coached him for four years, two as an assistant, two as a head coach, and he's given Duke everything he has. I know Jeremy, and he knows me and us. We're not going to make this [game] about that. You're playing the NCAA Tournament. This should be about Duke and Baylor. But at the end of the day, obviously Jeremy has been an important guy for our program with what he's done, and he's done a really good job this year. But this game for us on Sunday is going to be about what we have to do to beat Baylor, and I'm sure it's the same for Jeremy and their team, in their minds."
And the
Mount St. Mary's portion, with head coach Donny Lind, Dola Adebayo, Arlandus Keyes, and the only player whose name contains 2 tournament teams, Xavier Lipscomb. (Again, GoDuke has the
NCAA transcript.)
Coach Lind:
"Duke is a really good basketball team. There's a reason why they're one of the top seeds in this tournament, and they showed that for most of the game today. I thought our guys fought unbelievably. They played with heart and determination and great effort until there were zeros on the clock, and I'm incredibly proud of that. It's part of the culture we're trying to build here is a relentless and resilient group, and I think they showed that today. I'm also incredibly proud of the way they played for each other, the love that they obviously have for each other. You could see on the court, it was evident. That's one of the things that I'll always -- a memory that I'll always be proud of with this group."
