OK, wasn't expecting our free throw defense to be so weak. Lots of players got lots of time to show us what they bring.

A bit of a letdown game which was to be expected after the tough road trip plus the holiday. We shoot way too many threes against the overmatched opponents which is a little disappointing. Lots of minutes for the bench and chances to tinker with different lineups. We held them to 21% shooting so that's really great. Not much to take away other than the team needs to get rested up and prepare well for Auburn.

Evans impressed me in his time on the floor. My gut tells me he will still be overmatched against some comp, but I’d like to see him get minutes against a P5 opponent to see what he can do. Maybe vs Auburn.

The two-big lineup with ManMan and Brown isn’t going to work - it’s a beast defensively but we can’t have both those guys standing at the 3pt line at the same time.

Proctor is now fearless from 3 and I love it.

We stand around way too much and shoot a lot of threes, and we aren’t exactly good at them.

I don’t know why we don’t play inside out with Flagg. He roams the perimeter way too much for my liking.

All I saw tonight was a team that is going to struggle mightily with Auburn.
Definitely need to be inside out. Man Man and Flagg can be used more in that set up instead of all of these bricked 3s offense. If the goal is just shoot 3s then Harris and Evans need to play they'll make them over Gillis

A night to experiment...

Our #1 defense remains #1.

Lots of minutes for Evans. Did he overtake Gillis as our 8th man? Not sure. I'm guessing not against Auburn.

I love Ngongba's game. I'm not sure he'll play any against tough competition, but he will be great playing alongside Boozer next year.

A lot of minutes for the Brown + Maluach lineup. We don't need that bump in defense. We need more offense. I doubt we see it in big games.

Darren Harris will be a star before he leaves Duke. The difference between his game and Kon's game is not that big. He should have a huge season next year.

For the second time, Cooper misses a 10/5/5 by not getting to 10 points!

Suffocating defense, especially with our regular rotation in. Too many fouls though. Rebounding by our bigs surprisingly weak despite a major size advantage.

Our offense lacked much penetration and we were not getting much inside with our front court. Poor shooting inside and turnovers.

I was happy to see Jon give both Ngongba and Evans significant PT. They need to be developed abd become reliable subs.

Not our best, but we still held a competent team under 50 points.

Can’t wait to see what the overreactions are in this thread. Maybe it’s the holiday season but we collectively seem to be on edge.

All that matters is how we play Wednesday. History tells us this game probably won’t tell us very much about that.

Next play.

Hard game to watch but was expected. Offense drops to #27 on KenPom. Still don't know what our identity is going into year 3.

Khaman's rebounding has really fallen off since our first few games. Trust he and the staff will get this corrected.

I suspect we'll see that lineup a lot against Auburn because Brown is our most effective defender against Broome. I think Jon wanted to use this game as a tuneup.

It’s over.

Tired legs imo. We were hacking at the ball and reaching for rebounds rather than going after them.

It felt like we took a step back on offense. I think that was due to horrendous shooting, and playing a lot of combinations that didn't gel at all. Jon substituted like this was an exhibition game, which was quite surprising. I was pleased to see Isaiah get some run, however the substitution patterns prevented any flow. I would really like to see Jon try out our normal 8 man rotation, but with Evans getting some time as the 9th man.

We still don't run great sets on offense. It's almost always ballscreen, drive, and kick for 3. I think Jon expects teams to start respecting our shooting, which will open up spacing for everything else. In the meantime, we need better ideas. Seattle, like several opponents, overplayed the passing lanes. You beat this with backscreens, backdoor cuts, etc, but we just didn't do that. Right now, this team doesn't pass and cut very well. Hopefully things will gell with time.

Defensively, we were great. No notes, other than giving up so many free throws. Eventually someone is going to have a bad FT shooting game and our defense will look even better.
