Lots to talk about in this one, both positive and not so much (I’d argue a road win is a road win, but I know there will be nits picked here!). But I want to start this thread by highlighting two things that shouldn’t get lost in the noise:
1) This game gets out of hand without Mason Gillis. I (and others) said all offseason that Gillis would win us a game or two this year… this was one.
2) The fact that Coach Scheyer stuck with Big Pat for so much of the second half was, IMHO, brilliant. We got on a run with him and stuck with him. Not only was it a good decision in this game, but one has to imagine it’s an investment that’ll pay big dividends in Pat’s development. So happy for that young man.
Last thought: it takes some coaching cahones to go zone like we did, given how our identity has been as a stellar man defensive team. But it worked great. This was perhaps one of Jon’s best coaching efforts.
