Good Thoughts

Bloodwork was good yesterday.
I got out of hospital late February. I Couldn't walk up three steps. i literally crawled up the rest . I was getting in my own bed I had to.
39 days ago I started walking for strength and health .some days are better than others .I've managed 67 miles .it's not a lot .it sure beats the walker I was using .
Today I did something I didn't think I'd do again .I ran. It was up the stairs .it's a start. Hopefully I can continue to progress .
I decided to post about it to give encouragement to others that have struggled or will .Just keep grinding it will come .

From crawling to running even a little is a lot of progress! Congratulations!

Great progress wave! We’re all pulling for you. You’ve got this.

Thought I would post an update. We are still without power (84 hours now). Thanks to our daughter's workplace, just had our first hot shower in four days. We gave away everything in our freezer. Some tree damage but house is okay. Haven't been able to see the game yet so I am eagerly awaiting that. One end of our road is still blocked by fallen trees. I miss my ice machine. I know we are fortunate compared to what has happened to many people; however, this extra layer of stress on top of what we have been dealing with (cancer, knee replacement, etc.) is taking a toll. At least my sons got to witness the comeback live at WW Saturday. I hope everyone else is safe and well.

Hope all is well! This too shall pass. (But damn it’s inconvenient).

Headed to oncology tomorrow to get results from blood work, bone strengthening infusion, and hormone shot. Also, home rehab therapy will release me to Excel rehab. First session there will be Friday. Finally got to enjoy the UNC replay; however, it was disappointing that we couldn't put Tech away in the 4th quarter. We have made some donations to help the folks in western NC. I have many relatives and some friends there and it feels good to do something. Other items on my agenda: a hair cut and my flu shot. Thanks everyone for your continued support.

Color us relieved. Knee replacement is a shock to body systems; however, blood work was good. Getting my flu shot this weekend. Thanks everyone. You have been important to us beyond words. Stay safe.
Glad it's going well as it can. My friends wife had a replacement Thursday. They left Orlando came up here to Charleston.
Wife's going to cook up a mushroom risotto for them. Imma whip up some blackened Mahi. They are stressing aswell.
I sincerely hope you continue to do well .all positive thoughts your way.

Hang in there peteandpete. I can't imagine having a knee replacement while undergoing chemo treatments. I've had both but the last knee replacement was in 2021 and chemo in 2023. You've got this.

GoDuke and God bless.

Update: Blood work this week and oncology visit next week. I also have my annual check up with my primary care guy coming up. Down to two visits a week at rehab and I hope to be done before Thanksgiving. The last visit with the surgeon is coming up soon, too. Glad that will be done before any possible changes to Medicare are made. I don't think I'll make it to the last home FB game; however, I may try to attend the WF game and the bowl game. I would like to see the men's BB team in person at least once. I hope you are all doing well. We are so appreciative of your support. Fingers crossed for continued good news next week.

It’s already very well proven, you’re a total stud and cancer can’t beat you! I hope you have an awesome holiday season with your family and friends! You’re a winner and deserve many more great holiday seasons!

Well I don't have to wait for tomorrow to check the PSA results. My primary care Doc gets all the notes from oncology/surgery, etc. and let me know that it still looks good. Other results were also good. I am hoping to meet my oldest for the Wake game. I need to figure out a BB game that I can make and hope for a warm weather bowl game. Kate and I are planning a trip in May. Details later. Thanks everyone.

Fantastic!

Oh man, I wish I had realized this thread existed about 11 months ago. My wife was diagnosed with an aggressive, soft-tissue sarcoma right around New Year's. Surgery in early February and radiation thereafter. 9 month scan last week was good. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Has been a tough year, but hopefully brighter days ahead.

Thinking nothing but the best thoughts for you jv001 and others!
