I agree with you. Traditionally you run a couple times and kick because it's the highest WP move. If you read closer I wrote but he already missed an XP.What numbers? Certainly not with a kicker who's missed twice already. It's not like you can't kick the FG after trying to score a TD. Disappointing.
The XP looked like Pelino's fault, the FG not so much when the line just lets a guy jump over them....I agree with you. Traditionally you run a couple times and kick because it's the highest WP move. If you read closer I wrote but he already missed an XP.
It was but refs hate calling it in that situation. How was that not a hold or interference?
Pelino is not a bad kicker but had two bad kicks today certainly. I remember us all being amazed at how much a revelation Pelino was two years ago after so many years of horrible placekickers. Man, this loss stings, I'm sure to Pelino the most of any (but that FG block wasn't his fault).Give a scholarship to a soccer player.
They went too low on the blocking. The defender should never get over without leverage. I thought for sure he used leverage before I saw the replay but it was a clean jump. But the BLOCK so he can get the kick off!
Not giving up on next week. Manny will have extra incentive and I suspect the players will bring the intensity. Miami will expect they can win with no effort.Next week won't have any drama.
Agreed. I'd also like to see the offensive coordinator start pulling his weight a bit more in light of some head scratching decisions (IMO.) I sure would've loved to see what the big guys up front and Star Thomas could've done to punch it in on our last drive in regulation (instead of attempting the FG.) But maybe I'm crazy for thinking that.If I’m on this defense I’m walking into Coach’s office the day the transfer portal opens and asking “what’s your plan for next year”? Hard to ask for more from a unit than what our D has been giving us.
He didn't need a TD. That's a 90% win chance from that distance with an average kicker. How can Manny Diaz be so conservative at the end of regulation and then just put it all on the table in OT? All they had to do was go 15 yards and score a touchdown with 1:15 and 3 TOs. That's a much smaller risk than going for 2 in OT.
I'm guessing he didn't expect the field goal attempt to be blocked? At that point we probably had about a 90% chance to win the game in regulation by playing conservatively. How can Manny Diaz be so conservative at the end of regulation and then just put it all on the table in OT? I don’t mind the play calls at the end of regulation as much. You got the ball in the middle of the field for a 30 yarder to win the game. Don’t risk the turnover. But like, you need to make that kick. It’s a glorified XPAgreed. I'd also like to see the offensive coordinator start pulling his weight a bit more in light of some head scratching decisions (IMO.)
