FB: 2024 Bowl Games

I'm not saying they are, they're just among a group of 6ish teams at the top who could've won the national title.

Primarily I don't think OSU is clearly above the rest as a lot of folks claim after the Tennessee and Oregon wins, though they probably have the highest ceiling. Computer ratings don't seem to think Vegas's OSU -9.5 makes much sense. ESPN's FPI has OSU by 1.9 pts, Sagarin has 'em by 3, etc.

Parity? Yes. Mediocrity? I think that's harsh, but there's obviously no juggernaut team like the undefeated Alabama, Clemson, Georgia or LSU champs from the past decade.
All of the teams in this inaugural CFP were very good, yet flawed, teams. Such is the nature of college football in the current environment. I'm not sure we'll ever see juggernauts like those Alabama teams ever again, given that it's now exceedingly difficult to stockpile talent given scholarship limits, NIL money and player mobility via the transfer portal. Texas was a very good team—their FPI was a tad better than ND's and a tad worse than Ohio State's. All three were comparable when viewing their FPI (and a good bit ahead of Penn State using that measure, yet Penn State still took ND to the wire). ND is pretty banged up on the OLine, so hopefully they get healthier by game time. Either way, I predict it will be a very competitive game—Freeman & co. aren't going to roll over for the Buckeyes.

You need to bet the house with the bookies then. Or multiple pie bets giving ND +18.
I limit myself to placing only 4 bets per year. I have friends who are way caught up in betting but it’s just not for me and it honestly scares me a bit how easy it is to lose money. With that said, my first bet of the year was OSU -5.5 against Texas. I’m not 100% sure if I will use my second bet so early in the year on OSU -8.5.

I'm a long time proponent of the mute button. There's almost nothing these guys have to say that I rely on, and if there is I back up the DVR and give a listen. Rarely happens. I DVR all games, including Duke ones, and can get thru a 3.5 hours game in an hour and a half, with what's left of my sanity intact.
With the mute button on, you can't hear the nooses of the game and the crowd. SkyCast allows you to hear everything but without all the babble. To me it is superior to just muting the regular broadcast.

the only previous skycast I watched had some kind of annoying background chattering going on. Silence I find preferable. I make my own excitement!

“There has never been a national championship game like this. Two storied programs. Ohio State. Notre Dame.”

So says ESPN.

Really? It seems like a pretty so-so matchup to me. I’m not feeling the hype. Maybe it’s because the CFP has just gone on too long. I’m much more interested in the NFL playoffs at this point. Not enough bandwidth to get into this one.

Why is it that Riley Leonard was once a highly-regarded QB when he’s just average at throwing the ball? Can someone explain that one to me?

I don’t understand why OSU isn’t entirely up at the line for 4-and-1 inside the 10. Everyone knew what the call was gonna be, but you only have 6 in the box. What are they doing
