Duke Women's Soccer 2024

And that's a winner. Duke 1-0 uNC!
First home winner ever against UNC EVER in Women's Soccer per ACCN. Wow! Just a great accomplishment for Coach Church and a team that seems to want to bring him much more including a Natty. Post game interview and comments were so good. Should be a fun year to support this special team that's now a teammate down.

I was thinking that couldn't be right, but I just checked the media guide, and ... yes. All three prior wins over UNC were in Chapel Hill.

Assuming they beat East Tennessee State, I'd think they'll be right back in the Top 25, maybe in the teens.

The pass from Roller was a 10
The finish from Graham was cool calm and collected
Crazy to see Olivia Migli playing for UNC….seriously?? WTF
Migli got abused on that goal

I had to comment as my mom and Coach Church's mom were great friends and fierce golf competitors for decades. His mom drew me to Duke Women's Soccer and I've been amazed by Robbie's program and accomplishments. Being married to a fabulous UNC grad (as many of us are too, VERY happily!), I've had to acknowledge fighting the best women's soccer program for decades at a disadvantage due to their aura. Perhaps it's now broken. The future looks new and fun. Go Devils!

That was the best I've seen Duke play in years. Sweet.
I was really impressed with our individual skill level and the aggressiveness we showed in attacking constantly rather than defaulting to playing the ball back as we've done in past seasons. The goal was a little bit fortunate as the long pass richocheted off a couple players before ending up in Graham's lap, but we were able to generate numerous good opportunities throughout the game so it was deserving that one of them paid off.

Worried about Rader, she stayed down for a long time. But beating the CHeats is always a moment to savor.

In other news, Duke announced before the game that Elle Piper will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury sustained in the Ohio State game.

BTW, three straight shutouts for Duke

Ugh. Two season-ending injuries already? That's a nasty attrition rate. And no, I don't have any insider information on Rader. But since the trainers were treating her like she had a broken ankle, I think it's pretty safe to assume she's done for the season.

What a quality win that was! Agree with UrinalCake's take above—Duke showed quite a bit of skill throughout, were aggressive pushing the ball forward and seemed to hold possession for a larger portion of the game than previous games v UNC. The air-cast on Rader to immobilize her lower leg was not a promising sign—I'd agree with Phredd3 that she's likely out for the season.

Duke leads East Tennessee State 2-0 at the half. Shots were 17-1 in favor of Duke. Some nice saves by ETSU GK Ashton Blair.
Devin Lynch started in place of Kat Rader. Goals were scored by Farrah Walters and FR Mary Long (her first Duke goal).
