COPA 71 is a new documentary out on DVD about the 1st Women's World Cup. No it wasn't in 1991, because 1971 has never been recognized. The doc gripped me from the 1st few minutes when they sprung some video on Brandi Chastain and she said "Why didn't I know about this?". Another quote that stood out was a male football official (I believe he was French) dismissing women's football as "erotic and comedic". Held in a stadium with 110,000 fans, it is still the largest live audience for a women's sporting event, and yet it was covered up for 50 years.
I won't include any spoilers (like who won) because if you are a fan of women's soccer this doc is well worth searching out.
