Duke Softball 2025

5-1 after 3, duke couldn’t get Kairi home from 2nd with no outs to add more. Jada Baker remains in an incredible slump…..
 
Okay here’s a new one: per the box score, Linh Le has moved to catcher with Kairi moving to DP. Duke acquired a transfer from Penn to seemingly be our backup catcher but she hasn’t played yet, so this would be a surprise.

Anyhow Le just hit her first ever extra base hit, a double-

Edit: note box score can be wrong, Twitter says Sophie was in for Dani last inning, but game cast says otherwise?
 
Only change in lineup for Florida is Burgess is back in. Duke gets a walk in the first but nothing else.

Oh good lord, Burgess slaps one to deep short, long throw is made and somehow burgess doesn’t beat it out. I wonder if burgess didn’t run super hard out of the box there cuz she should have beaten it that

Ha, I mean Shumaker is insane. That thing was opposite field into apparently strong wind and was well gone.

I might’ve overreacted to Burgess, hard to tell with the cameras but it just felt like it should’ve been a hit

I felt the same thing on Burgess... should have been a hit.

I’m assuming that DP is the same as DH but I’m curious why it is different in softball. Or am I wrong altogether?
