Duke Baseball 2024, ACC Champs!

I had recorded today's Pardon the Interruption, but when I watched it just now it had the last inning of the FSU-UNC baseball game instead.

Works for me. :)

Yeah I don't quite get the whole draft eligible sophomore thing. I guess it's something to do with your birthday/ age. But I always thought you had to spend 3 years in college, even if you red shirt.

Edit: I was referring to Healy

It is age dependent and has always existed. Becoming more and more prevalent with so many kids being held back in high school. Alex Mooney last year left after soph year. Got to go when first eligible for leverage perspective. Mooney went in 7th round and got $1mm. I

Vols copying Duke with the Noles in Omaha. It's 4-0 T2. FSU might want to dismiss its lawsuit given how UGA football and UT baseball are treating them.

FSU loses 7-2. ACC manages the worst possible college World Series result given the bracket, 7th, 7th, 5th, 3rd, with no wins over SEC teams (0-5)

FSU loses. Except for the superfluous banners hanging throughout Chapel Hill, the only hardware resides in Durham where it belongs. I know we have some Vol haters, but I can't cheer for aTm.

Duke may not have to go to the portal to find their shortstop next season. Noah Murray, Ethan’s little brother, is batting.324 with 2 homers and 6 RBI and 5 SB in 11 games for the Burlington Sock Puppets summer league team.

Aiden Weaver and Tyler Albright are also playing for the Sock Puppets. Albright has a homer and 10 RBI and is batting.424 in 10 games thus far.

How have I never heard of the Burlington Sock Puppets? The merchandise (especially for kids and dogs) is incredible.

Any time there is a big time coaching vacancy, I get a little worried.

When Texas officially moves to the Southeastern Conference on July 1, Longhorns baseball coach David Pierce won’t be coming along.

Pierce was fired on Monday, ending his eight-year tenure at Texas. His dismissal came a few weeks after a disappointing season ended with a 10-2 loss to Louisiana-Lafyettee at the College Station regional.
Since Chris Del Conte became its athletic director in December 2017, Texas has not shied away from big-game hunting when it comes to recruiting coaches. Former men's basketball coach Chris Beard (Texas Tech) and current women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer (Mississippi State), softball coach Mike White (Oregon) and track and field coach Edrick Floréal (Kentucky) were established winners elsewhere before they were hired.

UT swipes A&M’s coach.

I’ve got a bad feeling about this.
Yup. When it was UT I was a bit nervous since they seem to have infinite resources. Given our recent history with A&M and coaches, I am even more nervous. Which is somewhat irrational, but such is life.

When I saw that the A&M coach was leaving for Texas, I texted my girlfriend who went to A&M but thinks of it as a cultish place and doesn’t give a damn about Aggie sports, “I found someone that’s more of a two percenter than you. I guess Highway Six really does run both ways.”

In any event, the SEC is already strong in baseball and I’ll be curious to see how the ACC manages to hold up as the revenue differences increase. I think they’re paying the coach like $2 million a year which is crazy for a baseball coach and they had to give like a $2.5 million buyout on top of that.

It's one coach that already had a relationship with the school. Pollard's bio suggests he's pretty much spent his entire life between Charlotte and Charlottesville. I doubt he retires here, but Duke really needs those renovations to Coombs before he goes.

Does anyone know? Were "Midnight Mike" and Coach Pollard close friends?
