ACC Football: Week 6 (10/4-10/5)

Miami’s coach made a real derogatory comment about Manny. Something along the lines of you get hired as a new coach either because the old coach did great or the old coach left the cupboard bare.

That should make some good bulletin board material come the last week of the month.

Found the video. Start at around the 10-minute mark.

"Well, when you get to a program, you're either there because the previous staff did a good job or they didn't do a good job, and our starting point there was relatively low."

The best part was a kid who played soccer in high school, now a civil engineering major, blasted a field goal about 40yards, but to the right. The ESPN crew was incredulous at the length of his kick. So they gave him a second chance, offered him $100,000 instead of the original $70,000 if he made it and offered an extra $100,000, making a total of $600,000 for hurricane relief. He had on street shoes from Vanns and blasted it down the middle for a wild celebration.
Daniel was great!
I liked his opening question. "Your major is civil engineering, what's that?"
"Um, I'm not sure." HA!

In other Game Day news, Desmond picks Duke as his Superdog.

Per Twitter (X), State quarterback Grayson McCall hurt. He was taken off the field on a stretcher. I am not watching that game so know no details.

I found two early reports, from Fayetteville Observer and On3.

N.C. State quarterback Grayson McCall was injured in the first quarter of the Wolfpack’s game against Wake Forest at Carter-Finley Stadium.

McCall was stretched off the field on a cart, but his hands were moving as the cart exited the field. He pointed toward the sky and gave a thumbs up as the cart began to move.

McCall took off and ran the ball himself but was hit hard and sandwiched between three Wake Forest defenders. The QB’s helmet came off during the play.

Later on the CW broadcast, it was revealed McCall was transported to a local hospital. The Demon Deacons led the Wolfpack 3-0 in the first quarter at the time of McCall’s injury.

McCall fumbled on the play, WF scooped and ran it over 70 yds to the pack 2 yd. line.

Not the best video, but the only one I could find:

Also embedded in this social media post in case YouTube takes the video down.

Standard disclaimers hoping for good health, but the most interesting part of this slo-mo clip is seeing Wake defender #17 momentarily consider intercepting the flying helmet, then deciding against it.

Kudos to the two State players staying with their man instead of giving chase.
